This is POV footage of my Associated Reflex 14b 4WD buggy. This is a 1/14 scale buggy and is very fast for its size! I used a GoPro Hero5 with GPS speed tracking. I started with Losi Mini 8ight 70mm desert tires, then switched to Shauloman Tarmac 80mm tires. Each run was with a fresh 2S LiPo battery. The buggy has the stock motor but I upgraded the speed control to a Hobbywing 16BL30 which gives a harder punch and longer run time. I also upgraded the front and rear differential ring and pinion to metal ones and replaced the front, rear and middle differential bearings with Fast Eddy bearings.

Enjoy!

That's way cool, Tony. Cool

A long, long time ago I tried this using Dad's old Super8 camera and an RC Porsche from Radio Shack.

My video didn't turn out nearly as well as yours. Big Grin

God bless America.

How are those holding up to bashing? Just built a Tamiya DF03 4wd buggy, wish Team Associated and Losi had more buggy options, especially kits.

They're tough little buggies! They really only break with blatant abuse. Support for them is excellent and you can literally build one of these from the replacement parts available at Associated or A-Main hobbies. They even offer an anti-roll bar kit.

Here's me bashing mine. I sent it on a 50 foot cartwheel after jumping off my oil change ramps. The general consensus amongst owners are that they are tough little buggies.

This guy abuses his at the skate park and he broke a ESC mount and he's busted two motors apart. He launched his over the fence and into a tree at one point...

If I run mine on asphalt or cement and I roll it or land upside down, the top of the front shock caps and shock towers eventually get ground off and the front shocks will eventually keep popping off the ball studs. If I run on dirt, nothing ever really breaks.

This buggy is amazingly controllable on all surfaces. It has front, rear and center differentials and you can tune camber, shock angle, shock sesitivity and toe.

I ran ours at the beach during low tide and they were a blast! I had to wash them as soon as I got home and blew them dry with compressed air and hit the metal with CLP.

They don't do well in tall grass since they're so small and they sit low to the ground. They jump really well too. The stock speed controller is sluggish on the throttle and has a high voltage cutoff setting that you can't change. Most people install a Hobbywing 16BL30 right away and they get much better throttle punch and longer run times since you can change those settings.

It has a 24mm motor and the biggest you can get in there is a 28mm motor. I will probably do this once I burn up my stock motor, but it's been running great for about 10 months now. If you have kids, the stock radio has a throttle limit you can set to very low for any age group. We love ours!

The stock tires are okay but go bald very quickly. The best tires so far have been Losi Mini 8ight rally and desert buggy tires. Lots of people replace theirs with LC racing tires for about $20 for four. They have rally, desert, mini-pins and others at very cheap prices.

Looks like fun. I think my father in law has a few, not sure if they're gas or electric.

I've wanted an RC plane for years, but something like these may be a gentler intro.

Put a 3s LiPo in today and ran it on a country road. I was in a chase car with my friend driving and me controlling the buggy. Topped out at 51 MPH!

There's not enough room for me to run it at top speed without losing sight or radio range, so we had to do the chase car thing. It was pretty fun!
