Friend of mine was going through his deceased Great Grandfather's belongings and found this. (He actually died in 2005. His Great Grand mom just passed and he was getting the house ready for sale.)

Wow, The Big Red One.

Looking at the medals, Great Grandfather was a hero.

A Bronze Star for service in the Big Red One. If only that 1911 could talk.

Love to read his service record. And the citation for the Bronze Star.
Maybe the 1911 figured into that!

The bayonet on the left is a Swedish m/1914 for a m/94-14 Mauser carbine.

The bayonet in the middle is a British P1907 for a Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk. III.

Looks like he was in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. No Mission too difficult, no sacrifice too great, Duty First. If you're going to be One, be a Big Red One!

I hope that never leaves the Family and that family members can appreciate exactly WHAT he did and WHERE. Some serious medals there.

The 1911! OMG what a piece of history there. You are very fortunate.
