shiftyvtecPliers - sharp edges?
Knipex is where its at when compared to the newer generation of Channellock.

wrightdYes they can be sharp. I have a few of that brand and I do think one or more of them are or were sharp. With use the edges will mellow out over time. The metalurgy is good, the design is dated, but the pattern is proven. You can do better, but the price goes up. But I don't like the way they rust after their sprayed on polymer coating wears off. On the other hand I don't like any tools with spray coatings anyway. A little surface corrosion on a Channel Lock brand plier is par for the course. Just oil it down with your favorite spray pentrator after use in dirt and rain.

Sure I am. When I take them out of my pocket and/or tool bag and put them back in, several times a day.
Need to grow some manskin.
Most job sites nowadays are “100% gloves“, meaning you have to wear cut protection gloves 100% of the time while working. Unfortunately, the calluses on my hands that I had for decades are pretty much gone.
So why aren't you wearing gloves when you take them out of your pocket each time?
I don't have to wear gloves, but prefer too. Dirty hands, cuts, scrapes are all gone because of them. I buy/wear the black nitrile gloves.

PowerSurge^^^. Nobody actually wears them 100 percent of the time in the real world Jimmy. There’s times when they need to be off for more tedious things.

Nothing, involving the need for a pair of water pump pliers can be considered tedious. I'm just saying.

Nothing? Speaking from your vast experience, surely. Have a good night Jimmy.

Ed FowlerOne of my absolute pet peeves, sharp edges where they don't belong. Many tools have them, knife spines with edges that will scrape paint, handles that you have to wear gloves to use them. But they may be pretty!
I love pistols and revolvers that have that "melted profile" plumb friendly to have, hold and shoot.

41I checked my Channel Lock tools aquired 53 years ago and no sharp edges. Maybe the ones made today don't get a finishing sand blast to take off the sharp edges.
