I give very few folks my cellphone number and plan to keep it that way.

I am interested in this Parler business but one is required to give a phone number to receive a text for confirmation.
Is there an app or something that will give me a number to get texts?

I use the Burner app to keep fully functional, disposable numbers handy.

Does the Burner app require you to give them your cellphone number??

Google Voice requires the cellphone number for verification as well just like Parler.
Kind of defeats the purpose of me not wanting to give my cell number.

Google voice will expire and.reassign your voice number if you don't use for a few months.

They send an email 30 days prior saying they will deactivate if not used. Go to your account, send text to yourself, done. I found this to be a fair inconvenience for the free service.

If you have an android phone, Google already has your cell number.

Good luck with Parler. I set up an account. Later I deleted the Protonmail.com account I used to set it up, now I am locked out. Can't get back in. Every option to recover the account hinges on having access to that now deleted e-mail account. Even is you select "Forgot E-mail" in the account recovery options, they send you an e-mail to that forgotten account. And setting up a new account is a no-go as the phone I would use "already exists."

Oh, and Parler does occasionally, like Twitter, send out a code to your phone to input. If you don't have access to that number when they do it, I have no idea how you can continue on Parler.

Thanks. I was wondering if a disposable number or email might cause an issue. That's basically why I just used my cell and said screw it. I'm not that thrilled with Parler but it's better than nothing. Twitter basically destroyed my will to fight their censorship.

What's the context of using this? I see lots of uber set up codes and pin codes and one for muslim matrimony.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Yep, I use mine all the time to fend off car dealer follow ups, realtor inquiries, online signups that require a verification phone number, and the like. Works like a champ.

Good topic and info, but a few questions:

What is gained over just blocking numbers you don't want to hear from anymore? I'm essentially anti-social, so maybe I just don't get it.

Isn't google still the devil? Or has all been lost long ago so who cares?

What do you do when they keep contacting you through your Google Voice number?

I opened an account on MeWe. I don’t trust that Parler is anything other than another data mining operation, aimed at the right.

Sign up for Pinger. It will also give you an additional cell number. Few ads here and there. Otherwise, no cost.
