James Murdoch, son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, resigned from the board of News Corp, the publishing arm of daddy’s media empire on Friday, citing “disagreement over certain editorial material.”

“There are views I really disagree with on Fox,” he said, presumably referring the views of on-air personalities such as Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Jessies Watters, Lou Dobbs, and others. James’s older brother, Lachlan, 49, has run Fox Corporation since 2018.

James:

I hereby tender my resignation as a member of the Board of Directors of News Corporation (the “Company”), effective as of the date hereof.

My resignation is due to disagreements over certain editorial content published by the Company’s news outlets and certain other strategic decisions.

During an interview with Vanity Fair last year, James Murdoch said he was disappointed over Shepard Smith’s departure from Fox, while also discussing past sex scandals at the network, including the scandal that brought down the then-king of cable news, Bill O’Reilly.

So did James Murdoch actually watch Fox News? “Um, no,” he said.

Needless to say, Fox fans and other conservatives were near-giddy over James Murdoch’s departure.

In January of this year, James and Kathryn issued a statement condemning the Murdoch media empire’s coverage of climate change.

News Corp. Australia publishes more than 140 newspapers and employs 3,000 journalists in print, broadcast and online. Some columnists in Murdoch’s Australian outlets have deemed those who attribute the fires to climate change as “hysterical,” even though most scientists say otherwise. Fox News prime-time host Laura Ingraham recently dismissed the “climate-change flameout” as “celebrities in the media” pressing “the narrative that wildfires in Australia are caused by climate change.”

In a long-simmering rift between factions of the Murdoch family over climate change, Rupert’s younger son, James, and his activist wife, Kathryn, are attacking the climate denialism promoted by News Corporation, the global media group, and also by the Fox News Channel overseen by James’ older brother, Lachlan.

One longtime News Corp executive, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation, described the comments by James, who continues to sit on the board of News Corporation, and Kathryn as an intentional attack on Lachlan and Rupert.

“They are pissing inside the tent and that’s unusual. It’s evidence of how high tensions are within the family over climate change. The majority of people who work here agree with James. We are hoping this may be the tipping point,” the exec said.

Clearly, the parting of ways — at least professionally — between James Murdoch and family has been brewing for some time

James Murdoch and his wife Kathryn have donated over $1 million to Joe Biden's campaign.

James Murdoch is the founder of Lupa Systems, an investment firm. He and wife Kathryn also founded the Quadrivium Foundation which invests in focus areas such as ocean health and climate change.

To be fair, most families have one or more of these lib/leftist do-gooders in the family.
It's just that most of us don't have the money or power or publicity of the Murdoch family.

Ocean health and climate change! Do they live in minimalist abodes, fly only commercial, walk or bicycle to work? Or do they just pay lip service and give away money and then live extravagant lifestyles (like so many other assholes of means)? Willing to wager it’s the latter....

Given their age, wealth and status demands that they be apart of whatever zeitgeist is happening, in this case, it's latching onto the latest lefty cause, damning the privilege that allows them to exist and attempting to be sympathetic to the aggrieved despite having no concept of the suffering/oppression. Many of them due to their wealth and connections all maintain a circle of friends and attend galas/parties with celebrities, artistic luminaries and politicians; people who've risen to their position through a level of manipulation. You saw the same with various wealthy children during the Victorian/Edwardian eras, children of the fabulously wealthy seeking a cause to join and fight for....all the while knowing that multiple financial safety nets existed should they fault or, loose their passion.

Yep and the WSJ has gone LEFT. I chuckled at an earlier thread on SF discussing the editorial function there and how certain groups in the WSJ pushed back. I wonder if any of those posters even read the journal lately as it's anything but the bastion of Capitalism it once was. Hell, every other article is pro-socialist or anti-DJT these days. Maybe James' departure will improve upon things at the paper but I doubt it as the liberal virus has a strong foot-hold. James' agenda was certainly accomplished there IMHO.
