I for one was glad to read the information about I Bonds.
The cool thing about a thread like this is that even if info is posted that does not help the OP their is a decent chance that it might help one of the hundreds of people that are reading thru this stuff.

This is a very old joke about equivocating economists, and "Will someone bring me a one-armed economist." But it IS very hard to make predictions, especially about the future.
I disagree a little about the Econ degree. It gives its graduates technical/math/quantitative abilities others may lack. You don't need those abilities until you need them, and when you do, they are great to have. Basic algebra, trig, graphs, distributions, slopes, are useful for all kinds of DIY scenarios. But heck I think that's stuff is fun. But with all that, mad scientists still have the most fun.
