I've gotten notices over the last two days of lenders pulling my credit report. Apparently some soulless cocksucker using my name, address, & SS number has applied for two gas cards. After calling Experian all they offered was to check with the post office to be sure "I" haven't submitted a change of address & to BOLO for any new cards I haven't requested. Have any of you experienced this? What did you do? "We're all travelers in this world. From the sweet grass to the packing house. Birth 'til death. We travel between the eternities."

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
A credit freeze on all three agencies and a note added about the attempt to steal your credit is best. That won't fix what's already happened but will stop anything in the future. Easy to unfreeze when you need to apply for credit yourself and it's free. They all try to sell you a "service" that you don't need. Just use the free freeze. You need to do all three, Equifax, Experian and Transunion. https://www.equifax.com/person...vices/credit-freeze/ ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Yes. LifeLock is somehow affiliated with the home security company we use, Vivent. We were given a year’s subscription to LifeLock. Other than credit cards compromised, we have not had any attempts at identity theft in the 3 years we’ve had LL. Right or wrong, I’ve come to view it as another form of insurance in a modern world. Sounds like you need to make a dramatic move to protect yourself. Given what’s happened to you, I think a year’s subscription to LifeLock makes sense—then decide if you want to keep it. There are discounts out there for first year. I think Rush Limbaugh has a coupon code for LL, and seems like the NRA does too. _______________________________________________________ despite them

I researched it. Identity Force gets better reviews. Same or better coverage for a lower fee. So that is with whom I signed us up. (TBH: I've always felt antivirus companies to be a bit shady, so Norton acquiring LifeLock was a negative, in my view.) As for your credit: The best thing to do, far and away, is lock your credit reporting at all three major agencies: Equifax,Experian, and Transunion. Also lock your reporting at ChexSystems and NCTUE for good measure. Do identify theft protection (actually, more accurately detection) services work? I don't know. I'm hoping never to find out . My experiance is a few years old, but Lifelock and the others notify you after stuff has happened at least that was my experience with it. We Froze the credit at all three agencies and have not had an issue since. Also note that the junk mail credit card applications almost ceased after freezing the credit. “Government exists to protect us from each other. I just want to point out that credit card theft and identity theft are not the same thing. Even if you freeze your credit reports at the three major agencies your life can still be made a living hell if somebody steals your identity and successfully uses it to rack up medical bills or, worse, commits a crime that ends up getting your name and SSN or driver's license number in the NCIC database. Late to the party, but we use Zander Insurance ID Theft Protection...very reasonable price, I think. I'm a Dave Ramsey fan, and it's a company recommended by him.
