Good point.

One of my favorite Clapton songs is his version of Tulsa Time.

Tulsa has beautiful older neighborhoods, very nice high quality places, and you will find that to be a bargain compared to where you are now.

Tulsa has a lot of really cool architecture, just really beautiful and interesting buildings. Also there are really nice museums, etc.

And just like any city, Tulsa of course has it's very own shitty parts of town.

You'll find the Tulsa Cops and other law enforcement agencies don't take crap from rioters etc. No worries for that.

Your money will go a lot farther in Tulsa.

Oklahoma is very friendly to the 2nd amendment, and in fact this Oklahoma Full Auto Show is a blast, no pun intended. It's a little over an hour from Tulsa. And the JM Davis Gun Museum is totally awesome, over 12,000 firearms on display, and it's in the Tulsa Metro area The Gun Museum

Good luck to you.

I haven't lived either place, but I have a cousin in Claremore, OK, which is just a short drive east of Tulsa. It has the Davis Gun Museum and the Will Rogers Museum, and there's a nice little Air & Space Museum not far off. Tulsa probably has more crime than Claremore. Don't know about prices, etc. I've visited my cousin several times, and it's a nice little city. You might want to check it out.

Arkansas is beautiful state, especially the north-central and northwest parts.

The thing about Tulsa is that you are just about as close to those areas as you would be in Little Rock.

CoolRich59, you may also want to check out the Rogers/Fayetteville area as well. There is a lot going on there now with Walmart and the Univ. of Arkansas.

.

Oh, I know. Just a little shade being thrown from a southwest Missouri boy. Smile I'm writing this from 6 miles north of the state line in the area you're talking about.

Little Rock is far from my favorite place, though, no matter how pretty the areas north of there are. Fayetteville/Rogers is pretty and would be my first choice of Arkansas locations, but it's getting more and more crowded every day.

Of those 2 I'd chose Tulsa.
There are some very nice people in Oklahoma.

I've only traveled to both cities for work.
I like the hills of Arkansas, but I like the people and politics of Oklahoma.
Besides there are some nice rolling hills in OK as well..

Lake Eufaula area is nice...

Yes, it is. I traded a TimeShare week for a houseboat on Lake Eufaula some years ago. It was a very refreshing week.

After the comments about Tulsa, I began reading about Tulsa. Just surprised , it's much larger than I imagined. Looks very nice.

Good luck with your choice, OP.

Only consideration I saw was the threat of tornadoes. But guess that can happen in Ark too.

Yep. It's been one of the fastest-growing areas in the country for about a decade, and it continues to accelerate.

Still very affordable, especially compared to just about any "big city", but housing prices and cost of living are on the rise.

Lots of 'Chicago' people in Mountain Home, AR. if that helps. If you move to OK. I'm all right with that too. No offense.

Not to drift my own thread, but I think SD is a great state with a great governor, Kristi Noem. But, after 50+ years of Chicago winters, if I move anywhere, it's going to be south. Smile

If you are in the NE part of Oklahoma check out Tenkiller lake and Skiatook lake, both are very nice. And though it is closed right now due to last years flooding about 50 miles from Tulsa in Muskogee there is a WWII submarine, the USS Batfish in a war memorial park. That is something you don't see inland very much. https://warmemorialpark.org

Having lived in both cities long term and currently in the Little Rock area (Saline County) about 15 minutes west of Little Rock, I endorse Little ROck. We have saved a ton of money while here and the recreation is outstanding. The economy is based on a wide variety of business and not so much on Oil. I am retired as well and Arkansas is very friendly towards Veterans. Good luck.

Little Rock's a fine town -Lt Dan.

The City of Tulsa itself is a shithole. Sane people live outside in one of the surrounding suburbs.
