Last weekend somebody close to my work bought a $10M prize scratch off. I think I had a $20 winner from my grandmother when I was a kid. What is the most you’ve ever won on a scratch off?

Never more than $20 here.
Buddy from HS split a $100 ticket with a coworker & they won $300 IIRC.

I've never bought one, only got them as gifts.

The most I've won is $1000 but lost who knows how much before I won it. It's a horrible thing to throw your money at. I did win $500 today though.

I won $1,000 once. Then over the next few weeks I lost $500+ of it by "reinvesting my winnings" and haven't bought a ticket since.

Years ago someone at work walked up and gave me two scratch off for a Christmas present. Well I won $50.00 on one, and %100.00 on the other. The first and last time I won on any lottery game.

I've never bought one, but I've been given them by relatives in Christmas stockings.
The best one brought me a windfall of $2.

Same. The shit is annoying as fuck if need to walk into a gas station to buy a bottled water, Gatorade, protein bar, etc. People act like got damn crack heads with the fucking things. They’ll be a line of 6 people and the ass hole will start scratching it off after payment to see if they won, and/or buy more, holding up the line. Geez get out of line with your addict self. At least drunks will purchase, leave, and go home and get ripped. A 10 mil hit is a huge anomaly.

A few years ago on my birthday I won $500 and this past Christmas I won $400. Both on a $10 ticket. I’ll buy one a week and most times get nothing.

Guy I used to work and room with said, “you gotta let em marinade”. He would scratch em until the day after he bought em.

Like most gamblers he was always, “about broke even”.

When in reality he was down $200 a week. It’s worse than the lottery because you’re not winning big no matter what.

One guy won $35k on a scratch off while on a job. Unbelievably he finished the job and went to the state office in Atlanta, they claimed the serial number was off and he wasn’t getting anything.

I’m convinced it’s a sham. They’ll cheat you out of any significant win.

I won $80 once. My brother in laws mother won one million from a $50 scratch off. She got around $750k after taxes. It was one of the most ridiculous and painful things to watch that I’ve ever seen. She spent all of it in less than a year, and was completely broke. She was already a horrible money manager and winning just put that into extra, super high gear.

Maybe twenty years ago, I bought a Florida Lotto ticket. Pick six numbers, so I picked month, date, and year for my wife's birth date and mine.

Six numbers. Five of them hit. I think it was a one-dollar ticket, prize for five out of six was somewhere around $2,600.00 -- the check went into retirement savings.

About 15 years ago on a whim I bought a 5 dollar one.
Went out to my truck, scratched it, 25 bucks! Went back in, handed it to the lady,
she said which ones do you want. I said the 25 bucks. She couldn't believe I didn't
want more scratch offs. Last one I bought. So I'm 20 bucks to the good.

I don’t buy scratchers. I buy lottery tickets a couple times a month. It’s $3, not a massive investment. I’ve been won $20 a few times, $10, $8, $5 and maybe a few under $5. I’m down vs what I’ve spent but I don’t care. My bills are paid and my investments are well funded. Worst case I win a big payout.

Used to see this a ton at the stop & rob by my college apartment. Lady would buy, scratch, win, trade, scratch, win, repeat. Clerk wouldn't move her to the side so we could check out.
Even more annoying when you can just buy it, scratch the barcode & have them scan. But then you lose the fun of scratching it.
