In case it hasn't been mentioned before, it isn't your debt. The only exception would be if you cosigned for it, which I'm sure you didn't.

I agree with the others: trash bin.

Do not pay it. I believe it was consumer guru Clark Howard who advised that, if you accept the “moral responsibility” for paying it, you’ll potentially open the door to other such claims down the road that might not be so small.

My dad hated Comcast with a passion. They were a necessary evil in his mind. I'm sure he'd be delighted to know he stiffed them.

I'll mention it to my mom tomorrow just so she's aware since she might have an obligation.

As said by others, ignore it and if they persist be sure to tell them they can contact him via medium or seance.

Back in the time when I could hear, I answered the phone one day. It was a collection agency, looking for somebody I had never heard of.

I told the caller that the person he was looking for was not here.

Caller: "Do you know how I can reach him?"

V-Tail (always a smart-ass): "Do you know how to un-cremate somebody?"

Dads wife died and her grandkids put 10k on her cc just prior to her death. Cc company called and told dad he was liable. I called the cc Company and advised when they found his signature on the account to let me know. That ended it.

On the other hand I don't know your relationship with your Dad or his situation but you got a pretty small bill. If he actually owed it I might just pay it for him and move on. Take the high road so to speak. What would your Dad have done if he got a bill for something he actually owed?

No! If you accept responsibility for his debts, you accept responsibility for his debts... potentially large things out there you don’t know about.

This is simple. Assuming you were not listed with your father on the Concast account, they have zero recourse against you. Zero. As such, throw the letter you received in the garbage and get on with your life. No further efforts on your part are necessary.

You must have gone to a different law school than me. That is not true. Not even kind of true. Not close to true.

OP, throw that bill away. It isnt yours there is almost no chance they can collect at all. And for $130, they won't try hard.

Don't just trash it.

Shred it, then trash it, ideally in a fire pit.

If you receive calls from unknown numbers, don't answer them; let them go to voicemail. Then if it's a collection agency, unless you know you have accounts that are yours that are in arrears, delete the message. Do not call them back. If you have accounts in arrears, don't call them back, make your creditor reach you via the mail.

Talked to my mom. She currently has Comcast so clearly she wasn't on the account. We agreed to trash it.

Thanks everyone!
