Many people travel internationally for business.

I'm having problems calling the cell phones of travelers. Error message something like "phone is not available."

I thought it was supposed to be transparent to the caller - how does the caller know the recipient is traveling?

I've tried calling the number as I would normally (1-area code-number). I've tried adding "+1" in front of the area code (+1-area code-number).

Is there a trick to calling someone's cell phone when they are abroad?

We have Verizon, when we travel overseas we get a plan for my iPhone 14. Not so much for calls, but for internet and mapping. I can make and receive calls with this plan.

I assume the "phone is not available" means they did not buy a plan.

Text works fine. And now, calling from international to here works (it didn't at first but then started to work). Still can't call from here to the cell phone.

My family usually travels to Mexico, Costa Rica, Belize, etc... once per year for vacation. I don't have international calling on my Verizon phone. We use What's App over wifi to communicate via cell phones.

I have traveled to A few European countries with no issues receiving calls.

The only issue I saw was with a coworker who could make calls but not receive them. Turns out that the coworker never activated international travel on their phone plan, and the company blocked incoming calls while "roaming".

I have ATT with international access and had zero problems.

I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

Travelers have this but are not able to receive calls. Didn't have issues with Verizon before, only w/ ATT. CS is useless.

Have you ried asking ChatGPT? It's a decent option to try.

My laptop recently has been shutting down by itself intermittently. I thought it was a software problem and maybe I was going to go through the trouble of resetting the machine but that's a big hassle reinstalling the programs. I'm also not ready to get a new laptop just yet.

I asked ChatGPT. I asked can you help me troubleshoot why my laptop shuts down intermittently.

It listed several possibiliites but I saw one: check tha laptop isn't overheating. Try unblocking the vents and also get a laptop cooling pad.

I look underneath and there's fine dog hair around the intakes, I vacuumed it out and bought the cooling pad. It's been working fine since.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual."
