Caffeine, yes. I drink way to much coffee.
Sugar, not so much. Black coffee most of the time.
Tobacco, yes. Hate myself for smoking and should have never started. This is the worst.
Never been a big fan of salt. I don't put it on much of anything. Do like pepper though.
Might as well just say chocolate. I get cravings bad.
We all have vices of some sort. Could add alcohol to that list also.

I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

I recently had family visiting for a few days.

My brother in law only drinks milk and Coke Zero. Never drinks water!

milk with meals and the rest of the time Coke ZERO.

He worked for years in a tech shop that provided free soda all day.

Lots of good insights, suggestions and encouragement. Very much appreciated! New to the forum. I can see already that I'll like it here. Thanks!

I have wondered for years why supermarkets devote so much space to stocking huge amounts of soft drinks. The discussion here made it clear why.

Not criticizing anyone, just expressing my enlightenment, and being reminded that I have my own weaknesses.

The caffeine hooks you. Try coffee or tea. No sugar that way and caffeine isn't really bad.

My vices are alcohol and Coke Zero (plus the combination of those 2 Wink .) The perfect is the enemy of the good. Just progressively be healthy-er. And once in awhile it is OK to splurge, vacations, holidays etc., just don't go totally nuts.

Balanced with exercise and 80% healthy dietary choices you'll be ahead of 90% of Americans. So, have that Mountain Dew as a treat a few times per week...just not a few times per day!

Oh, I make sure and drink lots of water as well, I start the day with a full glass of water with my coffee and continue the water all day.

I am a fan of one pinky finger of Wild Turkey then lovingly covered with half a can of Coke Zero. Good stuff.

Those craving are gone thank goodness but the occasional sugar free Rockstar is my crack I suppose.

Don't know if it was factual, but I read an article about sugar that said it was several times more addicting than cocaine.

I grew up in San Francisco and up until I was married, I drank soda. Never water. I mention San Francisco as apparently, it has some of the better water straight from the tap.

Until one day after I was married, I drank a glass of water from the refrigerator spout. I said, "wow, that's refreshing!" Ever since then I only occasionally drink soda.

In my Navy days, it was said that Mountain Dew has more caffeine than coffee. I never verified.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." A 12 ounce can of Mountain Dew has 54 milligrams of caffeine.

An 8 ounce cup of coffee has anywhere from 50 milligrams to 200 milligrams. (It varies based on type of beans, strength, brew method, etc.)

So coffee has more caffeine than Mountain Dew.

However, Mountain Dew has significantly more sugar. There's 46 grams of sugar in a 12 oz can of Mountain Dew. That's equivalent to 11.5 spoonfuls of sugar.

Uh, yeah. More addicting than cocaine? Ridiculous. 7X? Clown shoes. Who would make such a claim?

Can't stand diet, but otherwise I am probably the before pic of this. 6-10 cans a day on weekdays, more on weekends as I eat out almost exclusively and am good for 2-3 glasses a meal. I have limited my patronage of Coke only restaurants because of it. Got the ear ringing mentioned above too, but can't lay blame definitively on either the soda or my industrial manufacturing background for that.

I have a coworker that drinks 4 2-ltr bottles of Mountain Dew EVERY DAY. I don't know how he stands.

Who would make such a claim? Some doctor. and he says not 7X but 8X.

I'm simply answering the question who would make such a claim.

Do I believe it? Nah, I can stop consuming sugar any time I want.

Study: Sugar hidden in junk food eight times more addictive than cocaine

Yeah, maybe so, but “hookers and sugar” lacks the panache of “hookers and blow”.

I got addicted to it one summer at age 16 while working at a local peach packing plant. I'd drink at least 3 Mountain Dews before lunch. One day the vending machine was out and I didn't buy anything else... by 11 o'clock I had the shakes.

That doctor may be on to something. If someone was looking at us from the outside they might just agree since we have 'drug emporiums' everywhere, one of the biggest is named Starbucks. Sugar and Caffeine.

7 years ago I was a massive diet cola drinker too but along cane our first child. We decided to start getting healthier across the board and what we consumed was at the top of the list in

February of that year we gave up the no calorie sweeteners and corn syrup and switched to soda with real sugar.

In March we gave up any non clear soda and only drank Sierra Mist as it was available with real sugar.

In April we gave up all forms of refined sugar for the month, so no soda at all.

In May I had no desire to drink soda any more. My wife enjoys an occasional Zevia, but I’m good.

I never thought I’d be able to stop drinking Diet Pepsi, but it really was much easier than I thought it would be. Fast food in general
Was far harder.
