+1 for the LE132 Federal 00 with flitecontrol wad.
My Beretta 1301 will put all 9 pellets into a golf ball-sized hole at 6 feet.

That's my primary HD weapon, but there are AR carbines right behind it in the safe if the situation warrants.

Great to see a shotgun in action like this.

Very effective weapon in very capable hands. The wife is home alone sometimes three nights a week when I go to the lake home. I leave the shotgun loaded for her with OO buckshot. It's my Tri Star multi purpose shotgun that gets used mostly for clay pigeons or the occasional grouse hunt.

She has used it before to shoot clays so she is comfortable with it. I've thought of getting her/us a tactical shotgun for HD but I'm woefully short on shotgun knowledge. I'll start doing my research but if someone can shorten the learning curve for me with some suggestions I would appreciate it. I would want semi auto so the wife does not have to operate a pump in the event she needs a quick second shot.

I am not an expert, but I really like my Molot VEPR 12 gauge semi-auto. It's mag fed with 5 rd, 8 rd and 10 rd factory mag options. I purchased the 12 rd SGM OEM mags but I do not recommend the SGM; they function poorly.

I'll add the Beretta 1301 Tactical to the mix. I researched long and hard, considering Benelli and others before settling on it. They are somewhat hard to find right now (like everything else), but worth a look for sure. Recoil is very manageable. A Nordic +2 tube gives you 7+1 shells. I have added a few other things as well, including a Magpul SGA stock to shorten the LOP.

When she went down with the dirtbag, & having felt the blast, I gotta imagine she thought for a few seconds she was also shot. Must have been harrowing to the max.

Her ears are probably still ringing. What a harrowing experience for her.

That YouTube channel has hundreds/thousands of videos and it is well worth your time to sit back, get comfortable, and watch every single one of them. Even if it takes you weeks. SO many real life lessons to be learned.

Interesting timing , I removed my neglected 870P from the safe yesterday, disassembled and cleaned, and thought about putting it back up in my closet...

I keep a Mossberg 500 Shockwave in my car as my riding buddy now since I work in Atlanta proper. However, pumping it to reload might present a problem for follow-up shots. I've been hunting a TAC-13 for a while now for this purpose.

#1 HD weapon in my house is an 870 EPM and a bandoleer with multiple choices of slug, 00 and #4 turkey.

Yeah, I have a couple rifles for outdoors use, but on the inside, the 12 gauge rules.

No need to perform CPR on that one. Closed casket funeral I'd bet.

I’m sure he was thinking, “fuck I gotta do a use of force report just for pointing my gun at that clown! And Billy gets six months off with pay for shooting him...”

A comparable officer involved shooting that occurred recently in CA when an active shooter was taken down in a parking lot. The sergeant was using an AR at similar distance, but took body shots. So many people think the use of a .223 rifle at such close range would equate to instant incapacitation, but even though the hits were ultimately fatal, the offender remained standing for quite some time. You can fast-forward to 8:00 to save some time.

I observed a man shot center mass at close range with a military 12 gauge riot gun. The shooter had the riot gun ready at his hip. The man was dead before he hit the ground. There is a Mossberg 500 loaded with Federal #1 buckshot nearby my bed.

We have a Mossberg M590 12Ga shotgun. With that said we made certain modifications. Frist the OEM magazine tube follower is a stamping, we replaced it with a machined follower. The OEM safety button was replace with an aggressive surfaced safety button. The OEM front sight bead was replaced with a Night-Sight bead. We added a receiver mount shell saddle. We use a mix No-1 and OO buck.

The last time I used a shotgun for defense purposes was in my USMC days along-long time ago. We do not keep the shotgun loaded 24/7. But there are occasional circumstance where we have. I practice avoidance of stupid people, places and things like a religion but in ones residence you have few retreat options.
