Edit: Bought Team Wendy Any recommendations for a light weight bump or ballistic helmet?
I’m looking for a helmet to wear for some shooting competitions. It doesn’t have to be ballistic rated but solid quality and as comfortable as a helmet can be. Headlamp mounting would be nice but no plans for night vision.

I’m looking at Team Wendy SAR helmets or Hard Head Veterans and would like some advice. If it matters, I wore a M/L ACH helmet.

This is for events like Hard As Hell 2 Gun and The Tactical Games.

Thanks!

Might be hard to get these days but hit up a gun show or surplus store for an ACH?
When I was in a buddy of mine lost his right before he went on leave so he went to a gun show while he was home and picked one up for 60 bucks and nobody who would care ever knew.

HA! I have been looking into it and have done a lot of research.

Team Wendy appears to be the best bang for the buck. It's suspension and padding system is by far the best when it comes to what comes stock on a bump helmet.

Con to Team Wendy is that apparently the owner is a democrat and had Hillary speak at his factory in Cleveland. He has also contributed heavily, almost entirely to dems.

All USA made though.

There is also Hard Head Veterans. They are veteran owned and are a little cheaper, but they source US materials, then send them to China for manufacture (that is the info I can find on the matter). There stuff is cheap enough though that you can get a IIIA balistic.

Con... I have read that you will quickly want to purchase different padding and suspension.

Lastly, there is Ops Core. Expensive for that it is and still lacking in the padding and suspension that comes stock.

I will probably go with a Team Wendy next Friday (I hear they do discounts site wide on the 4th, Veteran's Day and Black Friday).

Thanks!

I want something lighter and more comfortable than an ACH if possible and I don’t need ballistic protection. Plus, any surplus is going to be suspect as there is no way to know how it was cared for and thus the ballistic protection would be in question.

Picked up a Team Wendy EXFIL SAR. Fits well and seems a good piece of gear. This one has the attachment points for NODS and Picatinny side rails for lights etc.
