My spreader crapped out on my next to last day of the year of its use. Because, of course it did. Turns out the little anti-surge spring was stretched out and when I messed with it the thing came apart in my hand. The wire is about as thick as a blond one and the machine has 5 seasons on it so i should have been more prepared. I tied a piece of dental floss to the last 2 loops of the broken spring and tied it off with just enough tension to keep it running. As Red Green says "this is temporary, unless it works." I did order a new spring but how do i install it? I can't even get my fingers in there. Do I remove the front or the back of the governor rod so that i can slip the spring over it? I can't see how it comes out. I need younger eyes. Any tips for me are greatly appreciated. GX200 is the model number.

Yell for your grand kids. They don't know what they're looking at, but young eyes can see. Unhappy ammo seeker

Thank you Very little ![]() |
Tiny springs are fun, especially when they fly out of your machine and fly across the room, whenever I've had to mess with them needle nose plyers help, have several sizes and shapes. That and a pocket full of swear words....

The neighbors get an ear full when I break out the tools. I’m glad that this spring wrapped around the governor rod so hopefully it can’t fly off. But if there a way …

yes, that’s the one. It’s a different machine with a lot of proprietary parts so there are many differences and things are in the way. I have one half day left so I’m not installing the spring until after. The dental floss is working so I’m not messing it up until later today. ![]() I also have a harbor freight magnifying visor that I’m going to use. And a bright light.
