Little about him, he’s wanted to be a paleontologist since he was 4-5, got his AA already. Says he won’t date a girl until he gets his PHD. And he owns a collectible sword. So of course he’s completely given up on a piece of ass Big Grin but I love him for being so focused. He has presidential signed letters for his test scores as he’s one of a handful to get perfect scores on multiple standardized tests. He’s smarter than me and it’s only a matter of time before he discovers as much.

Now, back to the point of the post. I’m not yet a grandpa but damn if it doesn’t signal a milestone for being old! Preaching to the choir I know. I’m likely still one of the younger on the forum at 43 but life never stops!

In the debate about “nature” versus “nurture,” there’s no question that both matter, and any parent can take pride in what they contributed to the latter. Congratulations to you both and best to him in the pursuit of his chosen career: unusual, but something that fascinates me as well.

“ One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be, prevented by use of force. … Against stupidity we are defenseless. … [R]easons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one's prejudgment simply need not be believed … and when facts are irrefutable they are just pushed aside ….”

My youngest, of six, is also 6. My second oldest is my daughter who turns 15 in November. She’s a mess!

Small world.

My middle [of 3] is 12. Amd, all 3 are girls...
Their birthdays are all 6 weeks apart, mid-Aug to mid-Sep
Then my anniversary is in July & my wife's birthday in early Aug.

So, I just hemorrhage cash for 8 weeks Razz

Congratulations and happy birthday!

He’s surely a son I’d be most proud of.

Your kid turning 18 is certainly a milestone for age, just not your's. Wink For 18 years you've laid out the map and now it's time for him to chart his own course. You get to dial down the Dad mantra and start talking to him like he's an adult. Good luck to you and yours.

Man, when I bought the couple of M11-A1s from you (as FFL) almost 14 years ago, I thought you were already in your forties. Big Grin

But, time does really fly, when you look back. Seems like it was just yesterday, when my youngest sister was a little child running around, then all of a sudden, now she’s a grandma.

Congratulations, Pop!
