Only in the head. In most zombie fiction, destroying/severing/disrupting the brain is the only way to end whatever virus, parasite, chemical, or other effect was reanimating and/or controlling the corpse. Headshots with a gun are one way to accomplish that, but not the only way.

But there's some zombie fiction - such as Return of the Living Dead - where even that doesn't work. In those, nothing works, short of totally eliminating the corpse via something like full cremation or nuclear strikes.
