Tourists?! Could there be a less attractive choice than Haiti? Haiti in July.

Protesters have been demonstrating this week against a sharp rise in fuel prices ordered by the government.

Some kind of socialist policy like that of Venezuela? To what end? Confused

Prices for gasoline were to rise 38% while diesel prices were to go up 47% and kerosene 51%, the Haitian daily newspaper Le Nouvelliste reported.

The kerosene would probably be used for lighting and cooking in a country with sporadic at best electricity, but gasoline and diesel for cars and trucks? That would be a step up for them. Roll Eyes

I'm sweating and slapping the imaginary mosquitos just thinking about it. Red Face

Hard to imagine a worse run country. Do the Dominican's get along with their island neighbors or is it a closed border situation? French speakers stay over there, Spanish speakers stay over here, never shall they mix...

No, no. You are way mistaken. Conan O'Brien posted about how nice of a place it is. And all of the liberals assured us this was a terrible thing to say about such a paradise

There was enough money donated, through "The Clinton Foundation" and other charitable orgs, I presume, to literally bulldoze that heaping pile of fecal matter and rebuild it from the ground up. WE all know it, our "government" knows it, the people of Haiti know it, yet it remains a steaming dung heap to this day.

After I contributed to "Food for the Poor" way back when Haiti suffered through their earthquake and saw the TOTAL LACK OF FUNDS being channeled to the people, infrastructure, etc., I vowed then I would NEVER contribute one stinking penny toward that place again. That vow has been honored.

Oh...and F Conan O'Brien, that bloviating, self-aggrandizing piece of Libtard crap.

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

I understand there are some nice beach resorts there but I don't understand why anyone would go with the rest of the place being the way it is. It is total squalor and on the brink daily.

The place needs to be recolonized by a power that can restore order.
