Like the US, Russia also has rights they extend to the arrested but they aren't like ours but they do exist.

If you search the web you can find them but it's generally the right to make a call and have an attorney however the rights are sometimes ignored or suspended but they do exist. She didn't say how the violation of her rights affected her case because she confessed and plead guilty against the advice of her legal team so any any violation seems have been rendered moot by her guilty plea.

Five months in a Russian jail. Nothing is going to change that. Her supporters can claim "illegal detention" all they want, but Griner knows the truth of the matter, which is that she is guilty as charged. Any thinking person can see what happened, and no amount of excuses will change it.
