I have the opportunity to pick up a completely refurbished Massey Ferguson tractor. Not sure the year but they were made in the 60s and 70s. I’ve read they are good tractors. Anyone have any specific experience or knowledge? Standard accessories fit? I’ll eventually need a bush hog, Mower rake and hay baler. It’s a 45 hp.

What would be a fair price? Less than 100 hours on it after the complete refurbish. When I say refurbished, I mean it looks like it could go in a show.

They are very well thought of.

They have an industry standard 3 point hitch so any after-market attachments will work.

45hp is plenty for any of the jobs you mentioned.

Gas or diesel?

If you have specific questions, there are plenty of knowledgeable people here.

As to price, it depends. Gas or diesel? Complete overhaul or just a nice paint job? Condition of tires? Power steering?

Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Thumbs up on a good used Massey. I would check into what all was done in the refurbish. New clutch? New rings and honed cylinders? Hydraulic hoses? Beware a "Sherwin Williams" rebuild, i.e. a machine painted and prettied up, but mechanically questionable. Tractors, like spouses, the trick is to find one that both looks good, and is good on the inside.

There are websites listing used tractors and prices, I'd peruse those to get a guage on a reasonable price.

Good luck.

This is the link to TractorHouse.com filtered for the nine MF 135's for sale around the country.

I don't have much to add to the really great advice above from PHPaul and DrDan about how to ensure you purchase a solid tractor. Hopefully the seller has receipts for all the work he'll claim he did to it. Look hard at the tires for wear and age. The rear tires especially are not cheap or easy to replace.
