Blue Bell is Texan, not southern. Headquarters is 72 miles northwest of downtown Houston.
Not sure which part of Michigan you're in, but
it's available in Indiana and Ohio in some cities along the state line (LaGrange, Angola, Montpelier).

BassamaticOur walmart also carries it. I have a jar sitting in the pantry. I like it, it's good mayonnaise but Hellmans is pretty darn good as well. I have a jar of that in the refer.

Yea my wife said our Walmart didn't have it... but, I found it hiding on the top shelf, just out of reach.
Good stuff!

SPWAMike0317Sig Forum posters have the best taste. Based on a past thread I bought some Duke's instead of Hellmans. It's been Duke's ever since.
Let me help you out. Which way did you come in? June 02, 2020, 05:54 AM

I call Aldi's, Bizarroland. The packaging of most of the stuff in their mimics name brands as well as the names. The colors and labels of mayo will look just like Hellman's but the label will say something like "Spellman's". It's a weird place. I keep expecting to see Kramer or George Costanza on the next aisle.

Blue Bell has a plant in Tulsa and they used to give tours and samples. I hope they still do, I’m 90 miles away and often in Tulsa. This would be a nice summertime visit. Do you have Braums in Houston?

MoreCowbellI started using Duke's last year I like it a lot better than hellman's. I was down in Florida last week and brought back a jar of blue plate but haven't tried it yet.

drill sgtas per comments of board members and personal recomendations of Charlie12 now we use the Dukes mayo. have no love for hellmans or any of the other big name mayos ..................... drill sgt.

WoodmanTo be fair, Hellmann's is a premium mayo when you want a more neutral flavor.
But right now it is Duke's in the fridge. And my favorite deli with the perfect store-roasted beef and fresh rolls has Duke's packets on the condiment counter ...

Frank, I don't know if they included that Japanese umami-rich mayo in their first round of over 24 brands. They only reported on their cut down of 7 or 8 finalists. There is Kewpie's MSG formula and a more recent one without MSG. Which are you using?

ersatzknarfHi Bob,
That's a very good question.
It's the standard one at the Japanese market.
Should one assume it's the MSG version?
PS - nice use of umami, sir
