Thinking of purchasing a Miele vacuum but confused Login/Join

I am in need of purchasing a new vacuum and recall others here liking Miele. Little confused by all the models but looking at canisters primarily. I have dense carpeting on main floor, Berber in basement and one bare floor in kitchen. Any suggestions as to recommend a model I should look for?
Thanks.

The differences boil down to the base unit and the accessories.

There are several base units available that have different maximum power outputs and dustbag sizes (and now they also have some bagless models).

Then the base units are available in a bunch of different accessory configurations.

The very least expensive come with a head without a brush that is really intended for hard floors. It can be used on carpet but won't clean well. In Miele terms, this head is a "floorhead".

The next more expensive one comes with a head with a brush that is driven by the force of the air getting pulled through it and an air hose with no electrical power connection. In Miele terms, this is a "turbobrush". They actually work surprisingly well.

The most expensive brush option uses an air hose with an electrical power connection and a brush driven by an electric motor. In Miele terms, this is an "electrobrush." It will get carpets a little cleaner but also cause more wear.

Some vacuums come with both a brush head and a floorhead.

Some of them also have better exhaust filters.

The only thing I have to add is that Miele had a 24 hour sale on their vacuums yesterday at 20% off. If I were you, I would sign up for notifications on their site and wait until the next sale if you can.

I am a HUGE fan of their dishwashers and laundry equipment, and trust the brand.

Wife bought us a Compact C2 Electro+, we have mostly hardwood floors with some area rugs, but also some carpeted areas.

It works very well but one of our area rungs is very thick, so the powered portion boggs down a bit, but it's not a large area to push it yourself.

There is a learning curve with the detached canister, the wife put it all together and started vacuuming, only to get tangled up with the cord / hose / something and trip. But once you figure that out, it's a nice unit, works well, and the sealed bags are nice.

The attachments make it easy to 'dust' floorboards, window / doorframes / etc.

I'll add that she paid the $500 for it, I certainly wouldn't have ponied up the money myself, because as a guy it's heresy to buy a vacuum instead of another Glock 19. Wink

Looks like they extended it to 02 Oct 2019. It's not all of them, but lots of canisters vacs.

Quality product, well engineered, and a true joy to use. The motors in the better units are designed to last decades. Our Callisto is about 13 years old, we bought it used in 2011 for less than half the cost of new. My wife is really, really hard on stuff, and it puts up with her abuse. You'd think an expensive vacuum like this should last 13 plus years easy, but you haven't met my wife.

Just a warning. We have the upright model, and if you don't adjust the power, it will suck the pile right out of the carpet.

Love ours. Spendy. But worth it.

We have two Miele S2 canisters; one has the carpet head with powered brush. We don’t have deep carpet, but it works great. Be sure to get one with HEPA filter to get allergens filtered out. Very quiet compared with most vacs.

Recently got one with the electrically powered wand or head brush. It has several height adjustments that make it suitable for hard floors (wood, tile, vinyl, etc.) but also adjustable for rugs with different nap. So far, so good. (Has an amazing mount of suck power)
