My older brother is crippled.

He got sick when he was seven.

My mom took him to every docotr in the state of Florida who would see him to try and figure out what was wrong with him.

Eventually they figured out he had Juvenile Reuhmatoid Arthritis.

The Shriner's took Chuck in and he was there for several months in SC. (It was the closest Shriner's Hospital near FL)

They never charged a dime for his care.

I only give my hard earned money to the Shriner's Hospitals.

I could not say enough good things about them.

My number one charity for many years. We have a Shriners Hospital here in Spokane and it is a marvelous institution.

Next time you have the sniffles or a minor injury - or even a more serious injury but one which can be recovered from - think about Alec and those other kids.

One thing I wish the Shriners wouldn't do is stand in the turn lanes at busy intersections with buckets out. That's a good way for somebody to get hurt.

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is a “Shriner” or what is the organization? I know about the hospitals and the work they do.

Their commercials are done exactly right. They uplift you and make you feel good for these kids rather than nothing but pity like the kids from Africa commercials or Sarah Mclachlan types.

I appreciate that very much. These kids don't deserve pity, and I'm sure they don't want it. I'm more than happy to donate for these kids as a result because it's obvious that they want nothing but the opportunity to help themselves.

It’s a voluntarily joined extension of Freemasonry. A fraternity with a focus on the crippled and burned children’s hospitals among many other things.

My grandfather was a Shrine clown. Did a few parades with him as a kid. First time I ever saw him cry was in his clown kit, after seeing a kid in the hospital that was being transported to the Shrine hospital. They sent that kid off with a smile and celebration, knowing it'd be a miracle if that kid ever made it back home.
I give generously to the Shriners. One of three charities I go out of my way to support.

I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

Every month, we give to the Shriners Hospital, and St. Judes Childrens Hospital

Those little kids are tough. Glad I can help a little.

The timing of this post surprises me. It's really rare that I turn on the television, but last night, I did.

I watched a Shriners commercial, and the toddler at the very end was very touching. Damn near brought a tear

I am a former patient of shriners I had a severe club foot and spinal problems was told I would never walk. Thanks to Shriners I have walked and done way more then I ever thought I would. They would not let me or my family donate any money when I was in there care. I am 42 years old and to this day if I see a Shriner I thank them for what they did for me. So to FenderBender and anybody else that is a shriner Thank you for the help I got as a kid and for all the help you give others. Thank you also to all who donate and help the next line of kids that need help. I was a patient at Portland Shriners hospital.
