I've not had this ring off my finger for a decade, cannot believe it worked as easy as it did.
Not my video, but the one I followed. Make sure you thread the floss thru the ring towards your finger so you can have enough string to get to the 1 knuckle.

I take mine off when I go to bed and especially when I work around cars and equipment. Saw too many of those videos when I was in the Army....
When my finger is swollen (usually from salt intake from eating at a restaurant) dish detergent works for me.

Yes, it does work, but, as in anything, not 100% of the time, like when there just too much swelling. Then, you have to bring out the cutter.

I imagine you've seen your share of ...oops!
In fact I was almost one. It took me two tries to get the ring off, first time I did not use enough string and the ring was stuck at the center of the knuckle. OUCH! Fortunately I was able to push it back on and tried again in a few minutes.

Where is the best place to slice the finger to cut down the swelling? LOL

I’ve cut a few off. Had one break three regular cutters, ended up getting creative with a pair of tinsnips off the rescue truck.

That's a very cool idea but that video was really hard to watch with the camera shaking around.

Windex or similar glass cleaner works pretty good most of the time, too.

The jeweler that made my ring told me of a method to get a slightly too-tight ring off: wet your finger with Windex. It has a silicone component that provides a no-mess lubricant. I don’t know if he’s right about the silicone, but the technique certainly works.
Serious about crackers.

I tried everything but the Windex, truthfully my finger was so sore that I only had one more 'try' left in me. Decided to go-for-it with the string trick. Still shocked that it worked as well as it did.

Quit wearing rings some 30 years ago when mine got caught on some projection when I jumped out of the bed on my pick up. Damn near stripped all the flesh off my finger. Fortunately, only really painful for a while, no permanent damage.
Once saw a guy working on an army deuce and a half. He had been told, time and again, not to be wearing jewelry (rings and watches) while working around the batteries. Those huge 24 volt batteries hooked parallel.
He got his ring between the hot terminal and ground. Bright flash. No immediate pain.
The ring was vaporized. Bad scorch mark around his finger. He ended up at the 97th Gen. Hospital down the road a couple miles.
Doctor there took one look at it, the snapped it right off. The guy fainted.

Only used it once but it worked better than the ones that look like a deformed can opener/saw

Thanks Sig 2340. Not. I worked in ERs for many years, and that even made me shudder.
