This ones prolly going to be a shot in the dark, I remember someone who uses Kodi here though. I’m in the investigating stages of this setup. And no, btw.. I’m not concerned with illegal TV. That’s another subject. Thanks!

I tried using Kodi on my Fire TV stick. I followed directions from Youtube to get it set up. For me, to get it all set up and then trying to navigate thru the interface and find shows to watch was just too much of a hassle. Having to use the remote to move a cursor around to navigate or type with made me decide I'd rather pay for the convenience of using a remote for a cable box from the cable company. Maybe that's just me though.

I use both. Generally I run a build from the kodinolimits you tube channel.

I really love the shield. Streams 4k really well. I use amazon, netflix, and playstation vue, much more than kodi.

When I travel I stick it in my carry on, as most hotel tv's have a hdmi port these days.

Well, I dated a Nvidia Shield in high school, but that was 40 years ago, so I'm guessing that doesn't help...

I have a Kodi/Firestick combo but my DSL is too shitty for decent streaming. It takes way too long to buffer movies for it to be worthwhile here.

Try Terrarium for the firestick- much better interface.

Terrarium looks interesting. Can it be downloaded on other devices besides the firestick?

I use the No Limits Magic Build on my fire stick.

It took me a couple of tries to load it to getting used to the fire stick.

Here is a good list of current popular builds

I bounce between kodi and terrarium.

Download the terrarium app from the web. I had issues with the app in the play store.

Thank you guys. SF comes through again. I think I’ll start off with a fire tv with terrarium and go from there.

You’ve been here nearly 13 years now.
Has there ever been anything asked here that has not been answered?

I have a FireStick collecting dust in the drawer I may have to check these out.

Well, that's what we're all trying to do Smile

I meant specifically, from a more technical PoV. E.g.: Are you purely streaming? Trying to DVR streaming or cable content? Trying to watch and/or DVR OTA TV? Ripping (your own, one presumes) DVDs and BDs? Storing your own videos for display on TVs and whatnot?

I run a formuler z7+ and a dreamlink t2 also made by formuler. The shield is a better box in that it has more memory, storage and processing power. Which only helps when it comes to playing games which I don't do on my tv.

The formuler boxes benefit from dreamlink app, which is their proprietary app that turns IPTV into hd dvr cable set box clone. The epg really makes it shine, superior to cable boxes but dependent on internet and your providers servers.

I do pay for an iptv service but there are free channels available, they just never work out for me. The pay service isn't perfect, but its 95% reliable. And with the price and what it offers, it's easily worth it.

I do run Kodi on the boxes because some of the builds are spectacular. It's easy to fallow the guides on youtube and I switch them up every couple of months just from boredom or because a new bigger better build is out.

Im not a gamer, so that’s not a big incentive. I’m just looking for cool stuff to stream. My internet is pretty stinking fast so I’ve got the bandwidth to play I think. I cut the cord last fall and currently switch between TiVo, Apple TV and a Roku Ultra. I just bought an Amazon fire tv unit that supposedly has a bunch of things pre loaded on it, Kodi, Terrarium, etc. I know it’s not hard to do reportedly, but I’d rather pay a few extra bucks and have someone that knows what they’re doing do it. We’ll see if I got ripped off or not..
