When I changed jobs in 2012, we moved closer to the new employer and have been renting a house. In mid September, the landlord called and told us he was done with the work of maintaining the rental properties and was selling them all in January. We have had a very good relationship with the owner, making improvements to the property over the years as it was his house, it was our home. We redid all the landscape, he paid for the materials and we did the labor. For the past few years he has handed me a book of deposit slips and said "Please pay the rent on time." with a smile. He gave us first right to buy at a reduced price and we of course took it. I now believe that he had this in the back of his mind for some time as he always asked for our input when he had the roof done and the house painted in recent years. It's been some time but now we will spend Christmas in our own home once again.

Sounds like you and your now former landlord were a great match.
Good to see it worked for both of you.

A Landlord that’s hard to find. In our town you can drive down any street and pick out the homes that are rentals. We do have a local company that is buying up trashed rentals cheap, fixing them up and selling them to people who want to own.

Congratulations. I've had a few tenants from hell but you sound like one that was heaven sent. Good luck. Where at in Fl? I had a place in Glades county for 30 years.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
