Years ago I finally sealed all entrances to under the house, but recently I’ve heard something chewing on boards under the house. It took me a while to figure out where they were getting in. They had to move a lot of rocks and dig down about 8 inches to gain access. I found this yesterday, and decided to put a trail cam down there and see what is going on during the night. I recorded 3 coons going in and 3 comming out. I can see under the house with a strong flashlight well enough to see lots of new damage to insulation. I temporarily sealed it well enough so they would have to move a bunch of stuff to gain access again and will put a permanent fix to it later on today. All visits were between 3 am and 5:30 am. My question is why 3 coons? What would 3 coons be doing under my house? I was expecting one.

.22 Wait till they leave. Use the “3S” model (shoot, shovel, shut-up) then seal the hole again. Or you can live trap and re-locate.... far, far away.
It sucks, but those scavenging bastards are looking for a rent free home under yours. There’s no rhyme or reason, they just want a quiet, secluded place to build a den.
My neighbor and I are dealing with a rat problem as we speak. Those fuckers built a den under the concrete slab of my neighbors garage and under the slab my AC unit sits on. We live in the City, so a .22 is out of the question. But the BB guns have been getting a workout. 12 in the last week between the guns and rat traps.

Very likely a mama and her two teenage kids. They’d be under there looking for a cool, dark spot to take a gronk and raise several generations of offspring who will do the same.

Doing what coons do... and they can be very destructive. I had them in my attic.

I trapped a dozen of them before they figured out my house was not where they wanted to be. After a quick bout of lead poisoning they were either relocated to the trash can or to a field where the turkey vultures quickly took them apart.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

If you have electrical access under there - they sell a deterrent strobe assembly that uses less than $20 in electricity annually, a bulb that has a 10,000 hour life, and a cord that a bear would struggle to chew through. I believe it is called "The Evictor".
I suggest a HAV-A-HART trap. After you catch them relocate them...…...to the bottom of a lake.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I read an article some time back about the use of feral cats to clean up the rat problem they had in a Chicago brewery. It was pretty effective.

Make sure to tie a line to the trap before you float test it..

Hose from your exhaust to the entrance....make sure you block off any other obvious entrances first

My sister has had problems with raccoons. Don't laugh, but cougar piss will send them packing.
You can shop for it on line. It works.

I have been living at this house for over 30 years, and just this year, we have had Racoons. No idea where they came from. I'm guessing either escaped from the local zoo that's down the street, or they are migrating from the park.
The past several years, we have had new wildlife emerge that I have no idea where they came from. We went from just the typical birds and stray cats. We now have frogs, geckos, and most recently, raccoons.
I remember one year, there were about 5 peacocks on the neighbors roof.

Our dumb fuck hippy bitch neighbor feeds them. So we have a whole family that lives out in the wooded area behind our house.
My wife had enough after the mother racoon started growling at our kids when they were out playing so she filed a complaint against them with the county, so hopefully that works.
King County is filled with left wing slime, but they do have an ordinance against feeding wildlife.

I shoot them with my .22 that has a thermal sight.
They never see me and I can't miss.
My next purchase will be a suppressor.

I wouldn’t stand for coons living under the house.
17 HMR, traps & whatnot. When I want ‘extreme prejudice’ I consider ‘flybait’ mixed with coke. Of course tuck it where nothing else can get it, like way under the house.
