Chronic use of these things is not recommended. I’ve seen two people who dose daily; scrambled eggs up there brother.

ZSMichael is right that these drugs are lottery.

It is playing the lottery. Some people are just not wrapped very tight. If psychedelics were a viable treatment they would have been using them in clinical practice on a daily basis. I saw Timothy Leary in person after all the psychedelics and he literally made no sense. He was a well respected Harvard psychologist who published his own theory of personality before he discovered LSD.

There are many different psychedelics most of which would be more classified as recreational like lsd, acid, mushrooms, etc. pretty much made by whoever doing whatever process

People take Ayahuasca or DMT to get an insight into their lives that helps them with all their past relationships and trauma’s.

It’s a common theme that people will say it’s like getting thousands of years worth of the best therapy.

Have you ever taken a hallucinogen? Do you have direct experience with this?

My nephew took a bunch of these. So many in fact that I think his brain is a bit scrambled. In one of them he is absolutely convinced he spoke to God. It turned his life around. He gave up whoring, drinking, drug use, found a life with many fewer vices. Of course I think it was a synaptic coin toss that he didn’t speak to the devil and go even deeper. Tread lightly would be my advice. Believe very little of what you are told as to the advantages as well. People rarely like to admit their ideas were full of shit. Or more succinctly, misery loves company.

I once sniffed a line of what I thought was coke. Turned out it was baking soda.

I went around for a week thinking I was a Hostess Twinkie.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I did a lot of different recreational drugs back when I was young and stupid, but there were two I wouldn't go near: Heroin and its derivatives, for their instant addictive properties, and any hallucinogens (LSD, shrooms, pyote), for their reality-altering properties.

I'm happy for them if this hallucinogen is truly helping people, but it's something of which I'd want no part.

Ibogaine, synthesized from the Iboga plant in Africa is another one like this that has shown some life-altering effects from people taking it. I know about eight or ten years ago, there was a push to study it clinically because people were claiming to be cured of opiate addiction from it. My understanding of addiction is a little different now, but I don’t think I would wholly discount it as working for some people.

Bill Wilson, the founder of AA experimented with LSD for years before Timothy Leary and the flower children took it up. It would be days to dismiss it as him seeking another way to get impaired, and perhaps that is so, but it was clinical testing, seeking a spiritual experience with which to replicate what he first experienced in Towns Hospital that completely removed the obsession to drink. In the early 50’s, there were AA members who couldn’t get sober and couldn’t have the spiritual awakening necessary to get there who were given LSD in a clinical setting. I watched something the other day that featured a first-hand account from one guy who this worked for. It was the one dosing from a doctor in an observation room, and he hasn’t had a drink or drug since the 50’s.

I am in no way advocating for anything here, just merely relating some anecdotal information from the founding years of the original sobriety program. Once the flower children started dosing for funsies, Bill Wilson stopped doing it clinically for just that reason.

Dock Ellis threw a no hitter while trippin on acid.

https://www.si.com/mlb/2017/06...-pirates-anniversary

Spent a summer with my best friend and a couple girls frying on acid every night. We did this for about three months without a break.
I went to work, half an hour before I was off, we would drop, then the night started. Trip was ver by 4-6 am, sleep, work at 4 pm, start all over again at 11:30.

One of the best summers of my life. I have seen shit that cannot be described without writing many pages. Of that, most was good, and some was terrible, when you forget you took drugs and believe what you see is real.

I wouldn’t do it again if you paid me. Mostly, I’ve seen too much life and the bad shit in the world. When I was 19, the world was pretty innocent and great.

Careful if you plan to mess with this shit. Most important advice I can give someone, don’t forget you took drugs. It all goes bad when you forget that.

Nope. Like I said earlier I went down the YouTube rabbit hole of Ayahuasca and it was very interesting to say the least.

I don’t remember where the place is but someone set up an island where it is legal and there are a bunch of Schamans (sp) helping people with the experience. It’s interesting listening to all these experiences there’s no question about that. I would never do any of the recreational type of hallucinating drugs but the stories and self improvement of Ayahuasca is way more compelling.

In addition to Bill Wilson mentioned above the US Army experimented with LSD at Edgewood Arsenal in the 60s.

The Army psychiatrist was seeing if LSD could be used to disable enemy troops.

I remember Rogan talking about a research team that was experimenting with some type of psychedelic. The head of the team shut down the research because what he was getting was freaking him out. He said each of his subjects came back and said the same thing. We saw aliens.
