Photo hosting options? Login/Join

I have used Photobucket or TinyPic for photo hosting options, but those are no longer a choice. I have Imgur, but I guess I can’t figure out how to get the photo to show up. I would prefer a free option, but I also understand it cost money for these companies to host photos.

What is the best free option for being able to host a photo. I did a search, but most seem to be from a few years ago.

Do yourself a favor and try Imageshack. It is NOT free. It is worth it -- assuming you too can get it at some introductory discount.. Instant dynamic size selection by link selection. Link types by forum type.

If you're looking to host Avatars then the options get real narrow. Imgur, Postimage, imgbb, etc. block avatars as they're prohibited in their TOS.

Due to Avatars, I'm trying out ImageShack's free 30 days and if I still like will be going for their $18/yr plan. More info in the TinyPic thread

I use Imageshack, and I'm quite happy with it for $18/year. My only gripe is that using it on my phone is a little clunky, but that's a minor issue.

(They do have a mobile app, but recently discontinued the Android version for some reason.)

It's not long before all free image hosting sites go the way of the Dodo.

Ads alone are no longer sufficient to sustain the bandwidth and behind-the-scenes costs of mass image hosting.

I vote for ImageShack too. I’ve used it for several years, and uptime has been near 100%. $18/year for unlimited storage. Its ability to dynamically resize images for forum posts is quite handy.

And the Apple App Store has the oddly-named “Phupp” app that makes it convenient to upload photos from your iPhone to ImageShack.

There's another who offers to host avatars, but I'm also certainly willing to do so.

I use Flickr, at about $50/year. I have 44,000 photos hosted there, but I made a special Album some time back that I use just for photos I want to post on web fora. (I figured that, since I was already paying to host my huge photo collection anyway, it was logical to also use it for that purpose.)

My avatar is being hosted elsewhere, since Flickr is not set up to do that.

Thanks for the offer. However, I tried out Creslin's which is working since I'm now displaying animated 9/11 instead of animated coffee cup.

Just updated my avatar so this is a test since I lost it with Tinypic. Thank you so much Creslin! I know $18 a year is not much to go with Imageshack, which looks good but I am on a serious budget while my wife and I build our new home.

Thanks creslin! I just uploaded and reinstated my old avatar that had quit working when the image hosting site shut down.
