I am limited on garage space and height. A 2 post lift won’t work for me and traditional scissor lifts take up too much center floor space and are generally no good for fluid change and work under the vehicle.

Came across the Quickjack. But all the videos and instructions I have seen say to position the Jacks on the outside of the vehicle pull the vehicle in and slide jacks under the rails.
As seen in this video (about the 4:00 minute mark) that seems like a bad idea to me as you have to drive over your hydraulic hoses.
https://youtu.be/3Qye_-Lyb58

Is there something that keeps one from having the jacks in the center pulling the car over top and then pulling the jacks out under the frame rails?

I would likely just keep them in place in the center under the parked vehicle so I was not constantly hooking, unhooking, and moving the jacks themselves.
Just leave them there pull the car in and pull the jacks out when time to lift the vehicle.

Rated for 7,000 pounds and the Expedition is just shy of 6,000 and the Highlander is even less so should be no issue.

So tired of dragging the jack around and fooling with jack stands.

Ummm, better re-check those lift capacities, Chief. At just before the 1:30 mark in the video he discusses 2 models...3,500# and 5,000# capacities PER PAIR.

For wheel work they'd probably be OK, but I'd be scared as hell about the side-to-slide stability of those things. Not getting me under that setup! Eek

Good luck!

Looks good to me, but, at $1200 for the 3500# and $1400 for the 5000# versions, I think you'd have to be doing a lot of wrenching to justify the cost over a scissors jack and jack stands.

you can get a real lift for a little more. Which is probably a lot more stable.

He is only discussing the lower models.

The bases seem just as wide as a set of jack stands not sure why they would be any less stable?

Honestly thinking about dragging out Jacks and jack stands keeps me from doing stuff sometimes.

Best friend lives in a condo in uptown Dallas area. His neighbor has a set of the 5k units for use on a newer Corvette. Pretty impressive to see them in person, very stable and just the right answer for someone in a residential garage. I didn't see any issues with driving over hoses.

If I didn't have access to a two-post 12k lbs lift at my folks house I'd consider one. Though I'd need one with a little more capacity with my truck.

These lifts seem like they'd be the cat's meow for the weekend racer types. Although they would make life livable when it comes to doing oil changes on cars that sit a few inches off the ground.

Which is something they thought of. One of the power options is running a set of jumper cables from a vehicle battery to the power unit.

I 've had mine for two years now to lift my Corvette. Best money I have spent in a long time. I store mine under the car, when I want to lift the car I pulled them out to line up with the lift points and lift away. When I'm done, I just lower the lift and slide them under the Corvette. In the lowered position they are about three-three and a half inches. They have 3 ratings if I recall correctly 3K,5K ,7K. I have the 5K version. To be completely safe when working under the car on the QuickJack, I use a set of 10" Race Ramp wheel cribs. They fit perfectly under the tires when the Jack is at total lift height. They are super lightweight and easy to move around , I have one for each wheel. Totally satisfied.

Think you would trust a 6k pound Expedition on the 7k model?

I'm having a hard time making the cost vs. benefit equation pencil out.

At full lift, I'd still be crawling around on my belly like a snake to do anything under the car.

Other than lifting all four corners at once for tire/brake work, I just don't see the advantage.

Time/convienance By the time I drag the jack out, carry all the jackstands, get them lined up, lift the thing, lower it onto the stand, roll to the other side, lift again, set jack stands. 15 minutes, do the same to put everything away. So 30 minutes each time I have to do the work is well worth it.

What are you doing on your belly? Get yourself a good creeper.

I'm a car guy and actually built a shop to accommodate a two post lift. It was one of the best things I've done and I have saved thousands doing my own maintenance is a safe environment.

When I was considering getting a lift to fit in my home garage I almost bought a four post lift that, depending on your garage specifications, would have allowed me to store an additional car as well. The additional benefit is that these can be moved around and with certain attachments will allow you to change tires etc...
