Some hope. We’ll see…

“Philadelphia's first female mayor has been sworn in and promptly signed an executive order declaring a Public Safety Emergency to tackle rampant crime.

Cherelle Parker, a 51-year-old Democrat and long-serving councilwoman, campaigned on a centrist platform of safety, jobs, and city services.

She promised on the campaign trail to hire 300 more police officers, including community officers, and restore 'constitutional' stop-and-frisk. She also put forth the idea of making school year-round, to reduce juvenile delinquency.

Her plans will include increasing the number of police officers on the streets with a focus on community policing - a policy she championed when on the city council.

'Officers there as guardians and not warriors, getting to know the people they are sworn to protect and serve,' she said on Tuesday night, during her inaugural address. …”

It's the UNCONSTITUTIONAL, illegal search of a person (upheld by the Supreme Court) that Democrat-run cities are so in love with. It's for da chirren, yanno. How far we've fallen from freedom.

Well duh! lol If it didn't say that, we wouldn't be talking about her being elected mayor! It's a prerequisite.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be thought of, but Philly tried this years ago along with stifling CCW, and lost with the courts deciding that the state had ultimate authority. As a city of the 1st degree it still bans open carry which the rest of PA has.

There is more to this story - and it's good news. From the Philadelphia Inquirer: Pennsylvania lawmakers and Gov. Josh Shapiro stripped Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner of some of his prosecutorial authority this week — a victory for Republicans who have long sought to circumvent the progressive DA, and impeached him earlier this year in an ongoing attempt to oust him from office.

Governor Shapiro in a Democrat. He went along with the Republicans and some Democrats and signed this legislation. Let 'em Loose Larry Krasner is furious and has complained to the press. Some Dem "activists" even had demonstrations. This has been a big story locally but has flown under the radar nationally. Josh Shapiro is a moderate who has called for better border enforcement. Plenty of political pundits say he will likely wind up as a Dem POTUS or VP candidate at some point since he is relatively young.

I am a Republican conservative to the core, but I do believe that it is a good thing when a Democrat comes along that is not a fucking idiot. I do remember many years ago when there were Dems who believed that law an order was a good thing, and enforcing the border is a priority. Many years ago, Barbara Jordan, the Black female Democrat congressman, headed a commission for the House of Representatives that recommended very strict border enforcement and a reduction in the number of legal immigrants. She said (correctly) that unrestricted immigration reduces job opportunities for US citizens and lowers wages. The Dems have changed obviously for the worst.

Lower and middle class populations should be especially against illegal immigration. It's a direct threat to their existence in terms of jobs, housing, voices being heard.
