If I look at Surefire, a Stiletto Pro for example, Surefire claims 1000 lumens for an hour.
If I look at the Fenix website and the Olight website they claim a total run time and Fenix shows a graph for their lights showing that in high or turbo the output drops off because of the protection circuitry.

Nothing I see from Fenix or Olight puts out 1000 lumen for an hour but a few Surefires claim too.

I know Surefire is a premium product but do they really put out better or are they deceiving me?

1000 Lumens for 1 hour may be a bigger flashlight than you may want as 1000 lumens for that long may heat up pretty good and need a good heatsink. Just my opinion. God Bless Smile

Can you post a link to that Fenix graph? I'd be interested in checking it out.

They all lie? lol

That's kind of been my experience, or maybe they tell the ruth under the narrowest, briefest of perfect laboratory conditions?

You are not going to get a “normal hand held” flashlight that puts out a steady 1000 lumens. They will heat throttle down. Realistically around 600-700 lumens is about the most you will see regulated over a period of time. (Even then you are looking at lights from Malkoff, Elzetta, Modlite and those that are great at holding regulated output.)

SUREFIRE makes great stuff still but you are not likely going to see 1000 lumens for more then a minute or three before it throttles down.

Thank you for that. I wish Surefire would publish that like Fenix does.

This is the Elzetta Bravo series. Made in the USA, pricy but will get you close to the 1000 lumens for an hour that you're after. Chart at the bottom of the page.

Yeah, but that's a 125 lumen light from Surefire's old days. They're fully caught up in the lumen wars now, and their current offerings throttle down noticeably.

There's one for the stilleto. 1500 lumens for a minute, 600 for 10 minutes, then 500 until 50 minutes where it runs out of juice.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."
