Boat Crash on the Columbia River
I'm amazed that they were able to save the video!

And that kids is why they say you should wear a life jacket at all times when on the water.
Hypothermia is a killer....not unlike the douche driving the boat that can't see!

Something like this:

Thank goodness for that video. Holy shiitake that was scary. They probably save their lives by jumping off their boat before they were run over. Wow.

I saw that today.

Holy crap.

And the kicker with the son in law throwing him, deservedly, under the bus!

“His son-in-law, who was also on the boat at the time of the accident, told investigators he warned Larsen to pay attention and that he’d been using his cellphone off and on all morning.”

Don’t EVER go against the family Sal.

Put them in a boat where there's no rules (so they think or as far as they know), where they don't know what they're doing, have zero training or experience, and you take your life in your hands being out there.

Ain’t that the truth! I’ve had nothing but trouble while flying float planes off of channels and rivers. Rights of way rules apply no matter what, but it doesn’t stop boater from cutting across your path because they think they’re not required to give way.

That's a double edged sword in an event like this. One may wish to submerge several feet beneath the surface while diving in to prevent getting hit by the boat or it's propeller. Difficult to do that with a life vest.

I wear one when I'm on my boat underway, but if I was anchored like they were I'd likely have it off.

I wonder if I'd of had time to empty a magazine into that dipshit and his boat.

You can't swim unconscious. I always wear it.

Let's just hope the boater didn't scratch his anchor.

Cell Phone..That was in the story I read also. If you think the road is bad or motorcycle ridding is bad, it is much worse on the Columbia River in busy areas.

As an engineer, I’m impressed that the boat remained floating. Very well designed and constructed.

Most boats have floating cavities which can be under the seats in some boats.

In you want a good laugh, go to a marina on the weekend where they are launching and taking boats out. Big Grin

The best cheap day out for laffs, no kidding. A few years ago, on vacation in Ireland, I sat and watched a woman drive her $100K Range Rover and $250K boat backwards over the end of a pier after she told her male companion to go get the coffees while she 'launched the boat'.

The boat slip was off on one side, clearly marked, but somehow she missed it.

Not being a boatie, I kept my mouth firmly closed- after all, what do I know?

The weight of the boat just pointed the Range Rover up in the air. Nobody actually got drownded.

Several times a year we drive to North East, MD (yes, a town) and sit on the elevated back deck of a restaurant named the Nauti Goose. It is adjacent to a yacht basin / boat yard. Watching the landlubber ‘messing about in boats’ launching and retrieving boats is hilarious. Well worth the drive from PA, the food is good and the beer is cold (I have a DD)...

Crazy video!!

In my 40+ years of boating in the Sandy Hook NJ area I saw a lot of crazy stuff. We were shark fishing off shore once when we saw a large motor yacht zigzagging towards us. I tried the radio, finally started the engines and waited, he crossed about 300 ft behind us, no one at the helm.
