Happens all the time here. We've even had sheriffs fire deputies when they found out they would be running against them.

It is, we (city cops)ran the entire county after a new sheriff was elected. He called everyone in and the firings began, people shuffle, jail staff fired or demoted....

When we ran calls that day, It was funny when I showed up at a domestic call in the county, and hooked everyone up for the program. Seems like the last time deputies were too worried about doing their jobs and more about not creating waves to actually follow the law. City cops got a shit-ton of complaints that day because we enforced the law. Sergeants were calling us at the jail asking what was going on...even the magistrate asked why I had people from the county...i even told the magistrates to stand by for heavy rolls cause the real cops were gonna be putting in some work today. Ahhh good times
