I'm sure there are some coffee snobs here (NOT meant to be a derogatory term) who roast their own beans, grind them in fancy grinders, etc. I am not one of those, but I'm curious what other guys/gals like in terms of their java.

For me, I use a Keurig coffee maker since I normally only drink one cup in the morning, so pre-loaded pods are what I use. I AM extremely picky about the brand and roast though, with Folgers "Classic Roast" being about all I will drink anymore, unless I am at somebody else's house and they offer something different! I also use a dash of sugar and one Coffee Mate creamer per cup.

So what do you drink, and how much effort do you put into preparing it?

I like dark roast, strong coffee. I can't get a Keurig to make it strong enough, so I use other methods. For convenience most days it is a drip coffee maker, but my favorite is a press pot. Occasionally, Turkish coffee, or espresso.

As far as brands go, I have subscribed to Peet's for over 2 decades, previously I bought straight from the original Peet's on Walnut & Vine. There are some excellent, small, local roaster's I have had. Locally, Buddy Brew is very good.

I am picky, but not a snob.

Green Mountain Dark Roast with two level teaspoons of real sugar.

2 cups with breakfast, rarely a cup in the afternoon.

What I like most about it is it's always FRESH coffee and just the right temperature.

Too many years drinking old, boiled-down, burnt "mid-watch" coffee.

I drink Folgers at work, instant (any brand) at home. Even drink day-old coffee. So, I’m definitely not a coffee snob.

If I had my way every day: Tanzanian Peaberry, whole beans, ground in my Baratza Virtuoso grinder, French press… with a whisper of milk in the camp mug.

But Peaberry is hard to source, so I make do with Death Wish Dark Roast or a light roast called Laughing Horse roasted just down the road in Harrison, NY.

Keurig user here. My go to coffee is PEETS Major Dickason's Blend. It's a Dark Roast.
My fallback is COMMUNITY Coffee Signature Blend, also a Dark Roast

I am finding fewer and fewer roasts to my linking as I age. I have not been able to find one I can rely upon to consistently brew a good (rather than just OK) cup. The wife, who does almost all of the grocery shopping, can be counted on to choose the lowest-priced brand of pre-ground coffee or beans, whatever medium roast is on sale that week. They do pretty well in the KitchenAid dripper, but I also use a single-cup pour-over cone with freshly-ground beans, for a slight improvement in flavor. No cream or sugar ever! And, oh yeah, no cold "lattes" either.

I am occasionally exposed to Keurig single-cup brews, which IMHO are all abysmally weak and too often tainted with non-coffee additions. The person who stocks the Keurigs in my doc's waiting room obviously hates coffee.

Generally, I find the South American sourced beans more fruity and flavorful than the Arabic/African ones, but there aren't many that can top an authentic 100% Kona by a competent roaster, although I am not usually inclined to pay their mortgage for a pound of beans. Lavazza will do in a pinch.

I didn't think coffee got any better than that!

I got the Keurig that does singles on one side and a big old carafe on the other. Works well. Not a snob. Any coffee usually will do. My wife likes flavored coffee. Me not so much.

Since college, I was a Peets Major Dickason drinker, loved dark roasted, heavy bodied coffee until I discovered roasting my own beans. Started with a popcorn popping machine, then built a turbo-oven rig, then finally got a custom coffee bean drum on a rotisserie in a propane BBQ grill. A ll of the above, beans were freshly ground in the morning, then single filtered for each cup. Did this for years, but moving to TX, I got rid of the roasting set-up and started to drink light bodied coffee, mainly using Lavazza medium roast beans from Costco. Since I have aged, my taste buds no longer crave and enjoy strong, dark coffee and beers. No sugar, a good pour of half & half into a cup that was made with a single filter. I don't drink Starbucks, Peets or any of that stuff anymore, I'll take diner coffee or even McDonalds instead.

I have a local importer/roaster I order my own blend through 50/50 Sumatra/ Tanzanian peaberry. I've been doing business with them for so long they label the bags "Chris's Blend"

I have a Mazzer super jolly grinder, Technivorm and a Jura super automatic

Like beer- If I'm buying I have a favorite= Peets Sumatra with a Melitta Drip coffee maker.

If someone else is buying- It's all good.

For my Nespresso, I use Kimbo (capsules with > 10 intensity rating).

For the Technivorm, I use high altitude, organic beans only (yes, I try to research this online beforehand before purchasing. I make note of what the supermarket offers and then look up each one). I try to get premium brands when on sale. Whole bean and grind at home.

I'm not too particular about roast (perhaps I should be); I pay more attention to the meaningless tasting notes (when available) although I don't see the correlation. My taste buds aren't what they used to be (just like music and my ears).

First off, my wife and I are not coffee snobs.

We don't use the Keurig very often now.
For about the last year we have been using a countertop electric percolator.
Make a 12-cup pot, save what is left in a mason jar in the refrigerator for the next day.

We've settled on Melitta coffee. We like it over other brands.
The best buy is the 22 oz cans at Walmart.

My wife and I both like bold, black coffee, and make a full pot every morning. We have a Technivorm Moccamaster and have been buying Mayorga Cubano Roast through Costco mail order. It’s a blend of South American (Peru) and Central American (Honduras and Nicaragua) beans.

I'm one of those that roast and grind their own. Lately, Ethiopian beans and some Guatemalan here and there.

Another non-coffee-snob here. I rarely drink it at all. When I lived in Portland (coffee snob HQ of the world, along with Seattle) all my coworkers wondered why I didn't guzzle the stuff like they did. I shrugged and said I just never developed a taste for it. They would say "Oh, you're probably just using the wrong coffee" and proceed to suggest this one or that one. I tried some of them but I can't taste any difference. Honestly, I think the best tasting coffee is the stuff you get with breakfast at a diner.

The Garden Isle K-cup is what I can find in the grocery store, but I prefer their 100% Kauai coffee.

My friend owns a small, local roasting company so he set me up with a grinder and decent drip machine that is programmable. (and coffee, of course)
