A few years back my sister's pup intetionally woke her up in the middle of the night. She found the house was full of gas. Had the young dog not woke her up, she probably would have died from the gas, or from an explosion.

She figured that her cat, that liked to walk around on the counter top and stove top, probably managed to turn one of the knobs on the stove. She ended up putting child proof knob covers on it.
