How about a spare tire?

Our new SUV has no spare. Just run-flat tires. Out away from civilization it could be a big problem!

Also, rotating them is tricky, with no spare. Luckily, the wife's car has the same lug bolt pattern, and 2 sets of wheels (summer and winter full sets), so I can do the job myself.

I can’t believe nobody has mentioned Chrysler’s gear reduction starters. Who can forget the MOPAR whine?

^ Good One!

I'll second manual transmissions and full size spare tires. adding:

- 10 feet long rack of books and catelogs on the counter at the parts store (And they did not ask for a VIN# for an oil filter)
- Flipping thru the annual Edmunds or price guides
- Good Autoshow
- Could not afford them, so driving all over the place, various libraries, auto shops and such we were friendly with to get a peek inside their shop manuals

I miss two-tone paint schemes on big boxy trucks.

A radio with five big buttons and two knobs. Something you can operate without taking your eyes off the road.

I remember those radios. Also remember one car had an 8-track player and it was a big deal to swap it out for a brand new one that had this new thing called a cassette

Can anyone explain the "L M M U U" arrangements on the buttons instead of "1 2 3 4 5" or "A B C D E"? Confused

M == AM band
U == FM band
L == another band that I don't know. Smile

L=Long Wave, Short explaination, an AM band used in African and Europe.

^^^ So in other words, they are not for the user to pre-set their favorite stations. I guess ze Germans do not listen to golden oldies when they drive. Big Grin

Back in the late 70s I had a Blaupunkt like that in a 66 VW bus. As I recall the buttons were for presets, and the L band in mine picked up a weather station at what was then known as Houston Intercontinental Airport.
