I was thinking about the old cardboard oil cans the other day. The kind you needed the spout you pushed through the top of the can. Or you could use a church key. I remember when they'd stack them up or have them on a rack out by the pumps.

Speaking of no longer made gadgets, I'd prefer the 49 Caddy 62 Sedan deVille with the turtleback trunk. Or the 64 Coupe deVille in a decent color.

Any Jeep before Chrysler bought them. The 82-86 CJ7 was awesome.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Big ass American land yacht, such as my 1972 Buick Electra 225.

4 doors of automotive comfort. Real American power and comfort with a 455 cubic inch V-8 under the hood. The Four-Fifty-Five converted premium gas to a civilized roar with squealing tires and burning rubber.

White Wall Tires. OH yeah. Bring back White Wall Tires.

Big assed giant sofa size front bench seat, not bucket seats, along with giant big assed rear seat.

Friday & Saturday night at the Drive-In movies with Little Miss Sweetie Pie wearing her mini skirt and heels sitting next to me. My hand on her thigh, her hand on my knee.

After it gets good and dark, well if you know then you know. Those huge rear bench seats were pure ahhhhhhh goooood.
.

The old saying "If you drink, don't drive" became a wink-wink "If you drink, don't drive. and if you drive, don't park because parking causes babies".

I miss those days.

When I started working in a garage in high school, my hands started cracking from washing the grease off frequently. The boss grabbed a “can” of Dextron ATF (think it was Dextron II then), told me to cut the cardboard sides just under the top and use than to get the grease off my hands. Dipped, rubbed hands as if washing, shook as much as I could back into the can, then dried with a rag. No more cracking. Still used soap and water (after the ATF) at lunch and before heading home, but hands were a lot happier.

That's what I am talking about.
A farmer ,back home had one he built,
Then a year later he built another for his son.

They only had 33" tall tires on them , not 35" like in the 4x4 magazines.

I agree. I had two different used 1980 CJ7s. One was my daily driver for 10 years, the other was a secondary driver after for 20 years. They were tough!
