Manual transmissions, wind-up windows, door locks that need a key.

Electric antennas.
Cigarette lighters and ashtrays.
Pull down trunk closer.
Bench seats.
Cornering lights that are turn signal activated.
Round air cleaners on top of the motor.
Full size spare tire.
Chrome and style need to make a comeback.
Basically I want a new 1973 Coupe DeVille

Carbs, points, no computer anything. I had a IH Scout TravelAll that was so basic even I could work on it, and you could t stop the thing

Wrapped windscreen so the A post does not block half your left turn vision. And wing windows, locking gas caps.

Agreed! But for whatever reason, we called them 'fishers'...as in Body by Fisher. My family bought GM cars...

Foot level side fresh air vents (that brought in air from the front wheel well area).

Fuel filler tube hidden behind the rear license plate.

Simplicity. While the new technology and engineering gives us greatly improved performance and fuel efficiency (and safety), I miss being able to do more than change the oil. And on my newest vehicle I can't even change the oil without special tools.

Unique styling. You used to be able to identify which manufacturer built a car/truck just by looking at the general styling. Designers tried to make each model a unique statement. Government regulations have dumbed down design, and now everything looks the same.

A simple steering wheel that is free of buttons/switches/clutter.

A dual tensioning seatbelt with fixed buckle.

MLK may have had a dream but my dream for our future is for a car without automatic engine shutoff aka stop/start.

Keystone, Cragar, and Western mag wheels. White Letter Tires! Side vent windows. Splash guards and mud flaps...I hate to get behind Jeeps or trucks with off-road type tires that are magnets for rocks, and no guards or flaps to help keep my windshield intact.

I always thought that those roll bars with the KC off road lights on them were dizzy stupid looking.
But
Man those sold boat loads of them

Metal chrome trim, held in place with screws. Less PLASTIC.

Easy to replace lightbulbs.

Still driving my manual trans in my ‘95 Dodge Ram.

Little to no plastic under the hood.

Simple design - ie no computers, no safety interlocks (beep, beep, beep) when your seat belt isn’t on after getting the mail.

I see all this complexity and think - GREAT, something else to break, need to be fixed and cost MORE money.

Pop up headlights and traction bars.

Mine has manual windows. The other has glass packs with exhaust cut outs.

Was able to add Bluetooth, CD changers, navigation, and dual clamps for an extinguisher.

Everything I wanted and nothing I don't.

The JC Whitney paper catalog, chock full of stuff like "barefoot" pedals, fuzzy dice, bobblehead dogs, "La Cucaracha" horns, welded chain link steering wheels and other cheesy decorations, as well as "miracle" power and fuel economy enhancing devices with hilarious hyperbole. A replacement distributor rotor "Bombards the cylinders with 14,000,000 volts of ionized radiant energy!!" Big Grin If you looked past that, however, there were plenty of quality parts, up to and including reman engines. The company still exists as CarParts.com, minus the cheese ... and the fun.
