Best vehicle I have ever owned

F150 anything from base to Limited Trim you can spend anything you want from $30's to $100's.

It's difficult to find base level trim trucks on dealer lots, they just don't have the demand from the public, people want tech today.

My 03 has 170K and I've had to rebuild the front suspension wear parts, brake pads, plugs other than that it's held up well longer than I'd expected.

Problem is the longer you own a vehicle the more absurd the new ones seem on price since you're out of the market.

$50K is about average now...

The Ram 1500's are nice, GM's trucks have tons of options and packages

Everyone is offering some kind of deal right now, it's summer time pickup sales

Nissan is the bottom of the barrel on sales numbers but it's still a nice truck, probably get a better deal on one.

Tundras are decent but like was mentioned a bit long in the tooth, styling is a bit mundane.

I have a 2012 Hemi RAM, and I said the exact same thing for about 7 years...until I bought my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited...

My RAM 1500 Express is still the best 1/2 Ton Pickup Truck I have ever owned...and I still own it...

Keep your old truck and put the money you were going to spend in a Roth IRA or 529 plan.

I know that won't be as much fun as some of the other options presented here.

Look for an 18 leftover Ram 2500 Tradesman. They are trying to give them away and right now that have 72 months at 0%, if you are looking for that.

is ford still offering the 0% financing?
my last truck was a eff juan fiddy, loved the truck but the company offered to by me a new truck

the owners do not like FORD. it was easier to get a Chevy approved.

similar to your wants, cloth seats, decent floor mats, and double cab (not crew cab) and a 6' bed. and 4wd (paid less than 38k)

crew cabs do not come with 6' beds unless you up your wants to 2500 or F250??

my new 2017 now has 87000 miles on it, still rides great on the highway, averaging 20 MPG. I understand that towing anything will drop to 14 mpg, but I do not tow.

Think used. Or watch for the end-of-the-year special deals on new ones. Either way you can save a lot, but selection is iffy.

If you buy and keep I am on board with a basic Tundra as the hands down number one choice.

Then GMC or Chevy

I've drove them all over the years. I am not sold out to any particular brand. I recently had get a new set of wheels and I went with Tundra.

It's the most solid feeling truck I have ever owned.

All mine have to be 4x4 and they get used.

If the link works, it’s to a Toyota Tundra SR model. This is basically what I have, but it was called a Grade model. 5.7L engine, 6sp auto, double cab with 6.5’ bed. PW,PL, bench seat, A/C and a CD player. Mine is 4x4, 2wd in Texas should be cheaper.

With the stock P255/70R18 tires I’d get 18mpg on the freeway. I’m at 15 now with the larger and heavier LT rated tires in 275/70R18.

I have no idea why people would buy a ranger, tacoma, colorade, chevy, dodge or ford half ton and pay significantly more than this rig. To me it is such a simple choice.

They are soaking you for all those useless bells and whistles. It is a friggin truck!

I'd go with another F 150. They're the largest selling pickup for a reason.

I recently sold my 05 F150 Lariat to buy a new Colorado. That Ford was a great truck but it was getting close to needing a ton of service and I was lucky to get 15 miles to the gallon.

Times have changed a lot when it comes to the new pickups and their engines. My Colorado has the fairly new LGZ V6 engine. That thing has more horsepower and delivers more torque than my old Ford V8 and I am getting 22 miles to the gallon. It's not just GM but most all the new trucks are delivering much better gas mileage and more power in a smaller package now.

Glad to see this thread come along! I have been in the market to replace my 2001 2500HD crew cab LB gas Chevy. Kinda shocked to see prices the way they are now, as someone mentioned earlier.

I want to stay with gas but looking for a little more HP and torque than GM offers. Also, would like to go to a one ton(non-dually). Here in Minnesota, it is way cheaper every year on license tabs if it is registered for private use.

Anyone with experience with Ford's 6.2 or Dodge 6.4?

Mike if you’re in TX just go to one of the large (Ford) dealers and ask to speak to the Fleet manager.
The larger dealers have basic fleet trucks stored off their primary lot and can get you taken care of. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have 100 trucks like what you’re looking for...

mY theory on this is it has more to do with the ten and twelve speed tranny's than anything else. Which drives me crazy. The Tundra is a six speed which is plenty. Another reason to go Toyota.

As has been said, Toyota is an old old design.

There are three really good domestic trucks with updated tech and designs to choose from rather than go toyota. Toyota makes the Tundra v8 engines in my hometown so i'm not a hater...just a realist.

Personally, I love the Ram...great engine and proven 8 speed tranny. Best interior of all. Fantastic ride. If not that, then I would look at the new chevy which FINALLY has round wheel wells! I dislike the Ford as they screwed up the door / window line and left that funky dip in the door panel for the side mirror....IMHO, its as ugly as square wheels.

Local Toyota Dealer is selling those for $31,995

A friend bought one and I’m considering one too. I just can’t justify $50-$65K for a truck.

My friend got his for $31,995, they threw in a bedliner. The $31,995 is the same price for any of them, no negotiation, take it or leave it, it’s already well discounted. The price is on the front windshield in big numbers.

The dealer sells a lot of those, around here they’re called Oil Field or Work trucks. They’re all 5.7 engine and 4WD, Double Cab.

I vote again to keep the truck you have.

Take a nice vacation instead and put aside money for repairs. You'll be tens of thousands of dollars ahead.
