I'll just add that when you have heart bypass surgery, they send you home with a pillow to clutch to your chest when you cough. They neglect to mention sneezing, which tends to come on without warning. When you feel one coming on, you panic, look frantically around for the pillow and usually find it too late. Geez that hurts!
After 15 years, I still have my heart shaped pillow with all the signatures from Hospital staff.

sjtillI had a patient who got a porcine ("pig") valve, and his wife made him a cute piggy pillow for coughing and sneezing. At my request she made one for my (then) little daughter too.
I also had a patient, a young woman IIRC who had such a violent sneeze that she somehow gave herself a heart attack.
So, yeah checking with your doctor would be a good idea.

iron chefI have bad allergies to airborne allergens. Before I found antihistamines that work well for me, I was prone to violent sneezing fits. Occasionally, violent sneezing would 'throw out' my lower back. I learned to prevent this by engaging my core the way one does when deadlifting or lifting a heavy moving box when I felt a sneeze coming on.
If you DL 520 and are feeling pain in your back when you sneeze even while bracing yourself, then I concur w/ others that you might have something much more serious going on.
