Finally got my motorcycle endorsement so I decided to add some fun to my hum-drum life.

Is that the 400? One of the guys I ride with recently got one of the Kawasaki $00's and his KTM 1190 rarely gets ridden now.

Z650?

Same engine that's in the Vulcan S in my garage. Enough power to be a ton of fun, without putting you constantly into triple digits like a supersport.

Congrats and be safe. Assume every car approaching an intersection doesn't see you. Because sooner or later one won't.

ATGATT FTW. Dress for the slide, not the ride.

Welcome to the club. Assume every car is driven by an ex wife and the checks are late.

Best money I ever spent was buying my first bike. I've ridden all over the South East from Texas to Florida to Virginia with a goal of eventually hitting all of the lower 48. It's kept me (reasonably) sane through some rough times.

Congrats !

Head on a swivel. - Seriously

I'm not the guy to preach about gear & blah blah.
Only you can make the call on your own fashion/safety.

I ride daily this time of year at least commuting & some fun extended adventures.

The city is where things are "special" due to more people.

Enjoy the heck outta that bike !

Cheers~

If you haven’t already done so, take the motorcycle safety foundation basic course.

Thanks for the great advice everyone.

I ride like I'm playing keep away and I never go out without a full face helmet, armored jacket, gloves and boots.
Just like shooting, it's only fun when you remember to be safe. Wink
I live out in the sticks so I can ride without a lot of other drivers around on miles and miles of rural county roads but it just takes that one farmer Joe to pull out in front of me if I get caught sleeping.
I've already gone on a couple rides with some friends up through the mountains near Estes Park and put over 500 miles on it in the last week.

It's a 2018 Z650. Plenty of power and it's light and super fun in the mountains.

I grew up ridding and have a couple of dirt bikes. That looks like a fun bike. But always assume nobody can see you. As others have said, wear your gear. Saturday night I was in the ER after a "fun" ride in the ambulance. While I was lying in my room, I heard the nurses talking about a single vehicle motorcycle crash. The rider was not wearing a helmet. The ER doc told me later I should be thankful I wasn't him.
