I have a 6’X10’ that I had built using the pallet racking like at Home Depot.
I really wish I had it built 12’ long and dual axles. My Tacoma could tow that as easily as the 6X10

We have a 6 1/2 x 14 Big Tex we have only used so far to trailer our side by side. We love it, seems very sturdy. Pricing here (Maine) last summer was I believe $2200.

I have a 1 ton single axel 5x10 trailer from Home Depot, Karavan Brand. It has great features (ramp gate, drop sides, LED lighting), but while it does the job, the quality just isn't there.

It hauls my tractor (1560lbs) or a pallet of pellets, but I think my next trailer will be a 5k rated tandem. There's a dealer up here that carries Belmont trailers. They seem a fair bit sturdier than what I have now.

Diamond C seems to be the trailer the professionals go to in these parts. A very nice trailer.

Having said that, my 18 foot tandem trailer is made by Doolittle. I really only use it once or twice a year to haul my tractor over to some property I own for bush hogging.

Bringing this back to show my new utility trailer that just came today. 14' x 6.4' dovetail. Powder coated, #1 grade pressure treated wood, spare tire, led lights, reinforced tube steel tailgate that folds in, out or removes with 2 bolts. Made in central Tennessee by a fairly new manufacturer. Cost $1940 delivered.

Doublesharps trailer above looks good. Note how the tailgate can lay forward - look for that and/or removable. If the gate has to ride vertically it is a sail, about as aerodynamic as a brick. Gas mileage killer. Use it vertically just to keep the load in place.

Thanks everyone!

I endedup buying a SureTrac 6 x 12 tube top utility trailer from Huffman Trailers in Harrisonburg VA.

It is, I believe the strongest and best built for the money.

It was $2090 plus $130 for a spare tire. (That is $205 less than anywhere within 200 miles of me.)

They took care of DMV paperwork and tags for me, so that was also a nice consideration as Virginias DMV is a nightmare currently.

The tailgate does lay down and is also removed easily, although, it is quite heavy. With tailgate down, no difference in my mileage home from Harrisonburg. Toyota Tacoma, so mileage is already poor. ;-)

Powdercoated, LED lights, so should last me quite awhile.

I bought a lock for spare, and a cover as well.

Tire covers when not being used, and locks for the coupler, and tongue.

Had to rebuild gate as both tires rubbed getting into my back yard... Easy access now.

Great suggestions, thanks again!

This trailer is smaller than what you want, but I've had it for 30 years. I just repacked the bearings. It has paid for itself 100 times.

I've been toying with the idea of acquiring a utility trailer for years. Need a bit better than 4 ft. x 8 ft. so our mower would fit on it. In addition to hauling the mower back-and-forth for service, I could use it to haul building materials, bushes, small trees, etc.

But, the only place to reasonably keep it would be somewhere in the back yard. And, even then: I'm not sure where. In any event, there's no way to put it there by hauling it with a car, and the mower doesn't have a hitch. So I'd have to move it by hand. That means aluminum. That means expensive. (~$3500)

So I still have no trailer

ensigmatic, they make adapter plates for riding mowers to mount a trailer ball onto, Amazon has This One for example.

A 5x8 trailer isn't all that heavy (depending on build). Given your use, you should be able to get by with a Big Box Store model for under 1k.

Gibb, there are other reasons I'd prefer the aluminum trailer, such as not having to worry about rust.

TBH: The main problem is I don't currently have a good place to stash it where it wouldn't be an eyesore.

Now, if my wife ever gets her wish for a rather large greenhouse: Then I'll have a place to stash it out-of-sight from the house: Behind the greenhouse Smile (*Shhhh* Don't let on about that, k? Wink)

You can rent a trailer from U-Haul and never worry about storage.
