Finally my Sweet Bride has become convinced her long long affair with the tiny flip phone is coming to an end.

Coincidently my Android Galaxy 9+ is annoying me enough to be turned out into the wilderness.

Verizon franchisee is making a deal on a pair of iPhone 12 minis and unlimited call plan seem almost not too overpriced.

But I know there's always a better deal out there if you talk to the right people... Tips, hints, links and/or suggestions
solicited.

If you have ANY interest in the Samsung S20 series, go directly to their website. If you are active or retired Military, LEO, etc, look in the upper left corner and select your status. Then go to the Mobile Phone section. They are offering very good trade-in dollars on some phones. I got a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE for $149.

Damn Johnny, can you buy me one for that price? I've seen deals on that phone, but no where even close to that deal. Wow! Just wow!

Verizon is doing some really good deals on the new iPhones. If you don't care about swapping Android for IOS, I'd say go for it. Ultimately it really comes down to how good is Verizon's coverage in your area.

In my local area Verizon really shines superior to other carriers. In my typical travels across the Western states, it has done very well also.
In addition, I've had very little grief or complaint in the many years I've had Verizon.

The phone deal & the cost of the phone plan will be making the final choice this time around.

Haven't spotted the really good deals yet but still exploring the link Johnny 3eagles shared. It's got a lot of choice there.

The 12 Mini has relatively poor battery capacity, due to it size, but it is not really a deal breaker.

Last year's model 11 Pro is priced less than the current 12 Pro, $100 or more less, depending on how you buy it and where. In almost every respect, it matches or surpasses (battery capacity) the 12 Pro. It is only a slightly bigger screen than the Mini (5.4" vs 5.8"). The 12 Pro has larger screen (6.1"). You do give up 5G by going with the 11 Pro. But there are a lot of complaints floating around on the Apple forums about 5G really draining the battery on the 12 models, and some just disable it. This would depend on your need for the faster speeds and the availability of 5G in your area.

The 11 Pro is worth a look.

Apple recently came out with the SE, an upgraded 5. I've always been happy with the 5. And, it's 400 bucks full retail, with many deals available.

I traded in my Galaxy S10 and got the Military discount, AT&T locked. I wanted an unlocked version but wasn't willing to pay the premium.

AT&T has the iPhone XS for $1 a month over 30 months with a $75 a month unlimited plan. You pay sales tax on the $899 retail of the phone and $30 activation fee up front. The per month price of the unlimited an goes down if you have more lines; I think it's $40 a month if you have 4 lines.

Pretty sure the SE is an update to the 8.

^^^This, except it has upgraded internals, like an A13 chip.

Instead of an SE, spend $100 more and get a X, or $200 more and get an 11. Face ID, Qi charging, and improved cameras are worth it.

I have a 9+ that I've been really happy with - so much so that my contract has been up for a while and I haven't felt the need to upgrade yet at all. I think I've had the phone for 30 months now and its still running strong.

The 11 pro is a great phone. Wife and I have matching phones for over two years of trouble free service. Battery life is excellent. A day's worth of phone calls and messing around and at the end of the day I'm still at better than 75%. When the 12 came out I thought well, pretty good pricing and reasonable trade in on the 11, and I do like "the latest greatest" But after looking closer at the 12 I saw no compelling reason to upgrade. The larger size would actually be a negative for me as I find the size of the 11 pro just right. 5G... I think the jury is still out on that and I really don't see any speed issues with the 11.

I have the Samsung S9 / standard, on Sprint, which is old hat now. At first I didn't like mine, as I had been used to HTC phones. But as I've used it, grown to like it. My only annoyance is it had a mind of it's own sometimes.

One thing, with my impaired hearing, is the volume on the S9 speakers is louder than some other phones.

The prices on these hogher end smartphones is obscene. I will keep this one until it fails.

Wish I could toss out a good phone for you, but I haven't been following since I bought the S9.

$100 here, $100 there, and pretty soon you're talking about real money Wink

"Worth it" is, of course, in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I don't regard any of those being worth another $200, or even an additional $100.

I will concede, though, face i.d. is nice. My wife has it on her new iPad Pro.

My wife and I upgraded our iPhone 6S' to the new SE's a couple months back. We're happy with them.

If you’re considering iOS as an option, be cautious of the 12. After a little research, I’m passing on trading my X in for the iPhone 12 deal- it seems that apple has completely removed 3rd party repair shops from doing work on anything after the 11 series, even with authentic Apple products. They are playing long ball and sweeping the market clean of competition IMO. I’ll rock my X as long as I can before making a decision.
