They could just as easily do that and NOT send anything.
yes and no. As I wrote, Amazon tracks shipping. At minimum, they'd have to ship something of similar weight with tracking.

HRKIf it's in an original Amazon box, maybe...
Think I'd call them at 1-888-280-4331 for Amazon Customer Service and ask if it really came from them and why it was sent to you since you didn't order it

FLKevIt's a SCAM! It's been happening for a few months. The gift changes but the goal remains the same. They want you to scan the QR code with your phone. This scan will allow them to obtain info from your phone and get your passwords, banking info and anything else you have on your phone. <<<<< DO NOT SCAN THE QR CODE >>>>>>

I would not scan.

12131Did not scan. Did not open. And they will remain that way to the trash. Don't care to waste my time chasing down the source. If it were someone I know who sent it, they made a poor decision doing it that way. Not going to give them to someone else, even those I despise. Know what I mean?

Expert308Not as long as the source remained unknown. I might stick it on a shelf and see if somebody I know calls and asks "Did you get the cookies I sent you?"

I think this may best explain what is going on in your situation. Toss the cookies!

Just noticed this morning, when watering the plants, that there is a medium sized Amazon Prime box sitting at the front door. Strange, I said, I didn't order anything and am not expecting any delivery. Opened it, and there were two boxes of Royal Dansk Danish Butter Cookies inside, both still taped. Label shows correct delivered name and address, but there is no indication whom/where they came from. No personal or company name, no return address. Just some QR code and some number (likely Amazon Tracking Number). There is no packing slip. I'm not inclined to even open the boxes. No way Jose!
What would you do?
Smart guy!

armoredYou answer your own question. Don't bother opening the boxes!
A couple tins of Butter Cookies; straight to the garbage can.
Certainly not worth spending time thinking about it when you already know what to do.
I would be pissed at who ever sent them as this is a scam that could have a grave effect on your finances and your life.
You might consider saving the package as evidence if you could find the proper authorities to alert to this scam.

honestlouQ, a number of years ago I sent you a chocolate doberge cake from Gambinos in New Orleans for your birthday. You were polite, but I suspected that you opted out! I KNOW you aren't eating unknown shipped food!

12131^^^ Oh no. I knew it was from you, because you told me beforehand. Received it and ate it all. I really appreciated that gesture.
