We have a new puppy or a new puppy has us.

SportshooterWe have a new puppy or a new puppy has us.
About 18 months ago we lost the sweetest chocolate lab in the world. We decided to wait until my wife was cancer free before getting another lab. We got Coco when she was about a year old and had her 14 years. We always wished we had gotten her when she was a puppy. Silly us.
We picked Koko Tu up about ten of the longest days ago.
We thought we were getting a cute cuddly puppy, but what we got was a baby Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The other day, I found my wife supposedly doing the laundry in the utility room, but I suspect she was hiding from our new pup. To show my love for my wife, I bought her a pair of Lincoln welding gloves which we now share.
Thank goodness she, meaning the pup, is now crate trained. It’s amazing how a handful of puppy chow will get the little critter to go into the crate after it.
Her favorite chew media is anything on her eye level plus a crackly empty plastic water bottle.
In the past we’d always kept two dogs so they would be company for each other. On the trip home my wife said we we should have gotten two puppies. What was she thinking?
I have to go now, she, the pup, needs to go outside again.

RHINOWSOLol, puppies are a lot of work - we have a 9.5 month Great Dane who has been house trained since early on but is still obviously a stupid adolescent dog. Well trained but he's going through the testosterone filled puberty and when left to his own devices can be pretty destructive.
He just chewed up the top end of a stair railing the other day while my daughter was taking a shower and he had nothing to do and it looked good to gnaw on. We have since re-stocked on dog / puppy chew toys, cheaper buy and replace when he destroys them. He also likes digging holes in the back yard, like 4-5 of them from 18-24 inches deep. It takes him about 2 min to dig one. He's not trying to escape but just has energy and digging seems like a lot of fun to him (common for the breed).
Even after walking / running him, he's full of it.
We have always had multiple dogs but always offset their ages by 2-4 years, so there was a natural 'older' dog in charge, which does a lot for discipline / obedience in the 'pack'.

Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

BassamaticYeah, puppies can be a handful. We got our little guy in January. My hands still show the battle scars. Here is a pic of him when we brought him home. Congrats on your pup!

SportshooterHere she is after two weeks and ready to rodeo.
I see sweetums spells her middle name different from the way I did. Guess I’ll adjust fire and carry on.
Don’t know what happened with this shot.
