Spiritually Imperfect |
The best thing about cutting cable and going with YouTube TV is being able to DVR specific shows. We now watch TV on our schedule, when we want.

Ditched cable after the 3rd rate hike in 2012. If it's not OTA, I don't get it. Funny thing is that it only took about 2 weeks to realize I don't need it and only about a month to get to the point where I don't miss it. OTA for 12 years and it's fine and free. If I want to see a particular movie, I wait for it to hit the $5 bin at Walmart. ____________ Pace

We ditched cable in 2013 and I installed an OTA antenna on the roof. I use a powered splitter to send the signal to all my TV's in the house. I have PC's on my 2 main TV's and just stream most of what we watch. We have a Roku in our bedroom. My wife just canceled her Amazon Prime account, but still uses mine from time to time to watch content there. We have Netflix but am about to cancel that as well. I buy movies, rip them, and serve them with plex on my local network. Honestly we watch content mostly on YouTube. We watch Johnny Carson reruns, OTA, at 9PM when we got to bed "We've done four already, but now we're steady..."

^^^^^ Out of curiosity what is/was the benefit of having two Prime Accounts? ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

Youtube tv covers everything the cable channels covered, also has DVR and you can use it on 4 devices including ipads. It's the way I went. But then over time you keep adding other stuff.....Netflix, Amazon, Paramount, peacock......

Mine is tied to my side business. Just easier to keep things separated. "We've done four already, but now we're steady..."

If you subscribe to YouTube TV, does it give you ad-free YouTube? You know when watching videos on it? Just curious. Google is as invasive as it gets. They save and catalog everything you do, type, watch, etc. Interested but hesitant about their streaming service. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

NO, you get ads with youtube TV (live) just like with Cable, but if you're watching from dvr you can fast forward right through the ads. There's no subscription with most of these so you could pay for a month to try it and then just cancel.

Cable can be pricey, and it’s frustrating when you only use it for a few things. When I cut the cord, I leaned more on streaming services but ran into the same issue with missing specific channels or sports. For local channels and sports, YouTube TV is solid, but the price might push you over your budget. You could try a digital antenna for local channels—it’s a one-time purchase and works great for ABC, Fox, and CBS. If you’re okay without live TV, I usually watch movies and shows for free on 123moviesfree.net. It’s super convenient and has a wide range of options. This message has been edited. I keep looking for alternatives to cable, but I can't find a lower cost alternative. We have "one stop shopping" with Spectrum. 600M internet speed, which is way overkill for us but it's the lowest price, and basic TV channels for $107 / month. As a Spectrum internet customer, we also get service for two cell phones, unlimited everything, for $29.99 -- that's the total for both phones, with no additional taxes / junk fees. I shop around occasionally, but do not find anything else that provides internet, TV, and service for two iPhones, all for a total of less than $140 / month. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים
