Hypocrite much?

Another leaving the progressive paradise hell *they* created with *their* politics to infect a conservative state. Mad

Jeff Bezos's move to Miami will help him save over $600 million in taxes over the next year, it has emerged.

The billionaire Amazon founder announced that he was leaving his longtime home in Seattle last year to move to Miami, buying two properties on the ultra-exclusive Indian Creek island dubbed 'billionaires bunker.'

Bezos said the move was to be closer to his parents and rocket launches at his Blue Origin space company, but it also came with a major tax perk.

Florida has no state income tax or capital gains tax, while Washington introduced a 7 percent capital gains tax on sales of stocks or bonds of more than $250,000 in 2022.

Last week, it was revealed that Bezos had launched a pre-scheduled plan to sell 50 million Amazon shares before January 31, 2025. By moving to Florida, he has saved at least $610 million in taxes on this $8.7 billion sale, CNBC reported.

That's the one thing these "tax the rich" people don't seem to get: The wealthy are good at figuring out how to protect their money.

He started that company from his garage. I'm sure it wasn't easy at first and he has learned how be wealthy. He's hated by those that will never see the wealth he has or have the drive to do the same thing.

Bezos does throw money at a lot of Democrats, though he also donates to GOP campaigns as well. Seems more like he trying to buy influence for his companies rather than going on some hell-bent leftist agenda. He DOES hate taxes and government meddling into business and industry affairs. He chose WA as his landing spot for Amazon because at the time the Seattle area was the major tech hub that had the least corporate taxation issues for a startup company to face.

And your contribution to this thread is what?

It was mentioned in the article that he is saving millions, I see no reason to mention the Yacht, he worked hard to get where he is.
Your reply is so strange, it has no merit.

What I am about to say is here say and I have no proof, but I'm not saying anything wild. My buddy worked at Apple in accounting. A while back, Apple had a bunch of money parked in Ireland. They still do, but I believe the government was trying to figure out how to tax that money. One of my buddies jobs was to do an analysis of what would be the financial impact of moving the company overseas. I don't know any details, but just as this Bezos thing is showing, the world is mobile now and it wouldn't take much for a company or person to just up and leave to find the best deal. The government needs to quit being so greedy.

Thinking ahead is not the strong suit of bureaucrats, who have guaranteed jobs and incomes regardless of their blunders.

It's classic government-think to assume that tax law is operating on idiots, who continue to do the same thing regardless of what confiscation is planned.

Whereas, in every business school in the world, the concept is to analyze things on an 'after-tax' basis. Changing tax laws guarantees changed behaviors.

What happens in the real world is, the more money you have, the better advice you can afford.

Good for Bezos and his folks for figuring out the cost of inertia and the value of a "GTFO" alternative.

Unless ASG and I are both wrong, he made massive contributions to local groups that have passed universal background checks, >10 round magazine ban, semi-auto rifle ban, 2 week waiting periods, and massive FFL regulations in Washington ($30mil fine to FWDG). If you want to suck the guys cock have at it.

One of the first things Trump did was change the law so companies could repatriate off shore cash and bring it back to US at a low or no tax rate. I don’t know the Apple amount specifically but in the whole various companies brought over $300 billion in first quarter of 2018 alone that was brought back to this country. Shocking that companies and individuals react to tax rates ! I’m just Shocked

Well good thing he didn't choose CA for a home state over WA, they have a .04% wealth tax, you leave the state and no matter where you go they tax your wealth.

Can't say there is much sympathy for CA residents since they funded and likely voted and encouraged the societal practices pushed by the people who put the law into place.

Nice way to have a discussion, I guess I will just consider the source.

He has contributed on both sides.

Yep, he's only doing the smart thing.

I'm with HRK: I can't say there is much sympathy for CA (or WA) residents since they funded and likely voted and encouraged the societal practices pushed by the people who put the law into place.

What follows is destruction and destitution.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Easy there, I didn't realize I was insulting your husband.

Tell ye what, Washington didn't become what it is now without the "help" of gentlemen like Bezos, and now he's bailing out for Florida because it's cheaper there.

Is this name calling thing a Washington State thing? I plan on being in Washington (Leavenworth) around the 4th of July, we should finish this discussion in person.
Meanwhile, It's an easy enough fix. Just start a company that makes more than him and counter everything he does.

Sorry we don't all see him as some savior or paragon. Guess that's what happens when you live in the middle of it, like an abusive dad but nobody else sees it because he always puts on a smile, and the family is always looking good, so how could he be a shitbag?

Just be glad he didn't move to your town and start meddling there.

Whoa, whoa, whoa!
I don't think anyone here "sees him as some savior or paragon".
He may very well be a shitbag, but not because he wants to save on his taxes.

We're not mad he's leaving to save some money, we're mad he fucked the place up and is leaving to get away from the mess him and his buddies created.
