Who carries a handkerchief or bandanna on a regular basis?
Earlier today at church I pulled a handkerchief out of my pocket and a guy my age said "look at you grandpa, you carry a handkerchief?" I said, "you don't?"

This brings me to my question, do you carry a handkerchief or bandanna on a regular basis?

Back when I worked on a ranch, I used to carry a bandana. Mainly to wipe sweat while working.

Haven't carried one in years, though.

Ever since I was a boy with seasonal allergies - over 55 or more years now. I feel naked without one.

I have Red and blue bandanas I carry all the time. Mostly to wipe the perspiration from my face and neck. When I’m mowing the yard in summer I also wear it around my neck to keep from burning. My students often ask if I’m a “Crip” or a “Blood”. Sometimes I say “yes, look at my colors”.

I carry a handkerchief all the time. Comes in handy to pick up something you would rather not touch, blow your nose or use to break up the outline of a holstered gun when pocket carrying.

I don't but the idea is kind of cool. There are people out there in the EDC groups that carry them all the time. Even people that sell custom "cool" chiefs!!!!

I do, but it is kept clean for wiping eyeglasses.

I remember back in maybe second or third grade, we had "inspection" every day. Clean hands, etc. We had to show that we each had a handkerchief.

Seventy-five or so years later, the habit has stuck with me. There is always a clean handkercief in my right rear pocket.

My Dad does, he's 77 yrs. old. He's the only person I know that does. 1st time he visited me (living in a different state) he forgot one of his handkerchiefs. I kept it because every time I see it, it reminds me of him (I miss him dearly) He's still alive, it's just that we usually only get 1 visit in per year & you never know when the "last" one will be.

Last time my Dad visited, he asked my husband if he could put some of his clothes in with the laundry my husband was doing, hubby said "sure" then noticed my Dad had a snotty handkerchief in it so he took it aside because he thought it was gross to put it in the laundry so I hand washed it (my husband has his own issues but he has his redeeming qualities) Then, come to find out, there were actually 2 snotty handkerchiefs, but it was too late cos laundry was all dry by then. Weirded my husband out, but I got a kick out of it.

just this weekend, used mine for
1) leaking jar;
2) hot grill handle;
3) picked up a wad of 22LR unused & wanted to secure them for closer ID before using;
4) actually drew blood on a little repair project that needed a little attention;
5) cleaned glasses a few times....ok, ineffectively cleaned a few times more....

what's this 'grandpa' business? what does your buddy do?

Handkerchief: every day, part of the 'routine' - like the saying goes 'I'd rather have it & not need it, then need it and not have it'.

I use it to wipe off my katana, periodically....

My dad used to carry a snot rag every day. Me? Not so much. I will if I feel I'm going to need one. Otherwise? No.

I’m 36 and have carried a handkerchief in my right rear pocket (along with my wallet) for about 15 years now. As others have said lots of uses, though I try to use it as a Kleenex as a last resort. Comes in handy with kids.

I usually have a bandanna somewhere close by if not on me

A lot of times I'll wear it when shooting to keep the sweat out of my eyes, keep the head warm if wearing ear muffs and a stocking hat won't work or if it's hot, I have one I soak in water then wear to keep the head cool.

I carried one for 25 years of uniformed duty. Like MNSIG said, for wiping eyeglasses. Polyester uniforms would not clean rain off of lenses. Also would double as a first bandage. Had the same pack of 5 for all of my first 25 year. Have a few left for my retirement job now. Maybe I will retire for good when they are all gone. 26 years on the remaining ones and they have never touched a nose.

Yeah, I used to have a couple of guns.

Much more likely to have 2-3 bounty towels in my pocket. Come winter nearly every pocket I own has a couple. Going in and outdoors I've always seem to have moisture or ice or whatever on my beard and mustache.

I carry one everyday.

Mostly for wiping my bald head free of sweat, but a hanky is good for anything in a pinch.

My dad carried one when I was young.

Seems to be out of "trend" now, probably because it's easier to get a paper towel and throw away and not have to worry about washing it all the time.
