RIP sir. I greatly enjoyed watching you play basketball. Link ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. And several dogs, because a man with a cat is a woman. Kurt Schlichter

The sound of Johnny Most screaming “HAVLICEK STOLE THE BALL” is permanently recorded in my memory. Eight rings in a 16 year career.

THE SIGGUY |
Hondo had the most minutes, the most games and the most points of any Celtic! I saw him many times at the Garden as a kid. RIP. -------------------------------------------------------2/28/2015 ~ Rest in peace Dad. Lt Commander E.G.E. USN Love you.

wow Sigguy, that is an awesome thing to have seen. I recall the epic battles with the knicks. Frazier and Monroe. IN my mind that was truly the Gold era of pro basketball. Havlicek was one of the greatest of all time. May he rip. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

As anyone can imagine, Hondo has been the talk of New England today. He was drafted as a wide receiver in 1962 He had the reflexes of a cat He had one of the lowest pulse rates of a pro athlete He could play an entire NBA game without a rest period No one could sprint up and down the court faster than him His first four championships were four in a row Of course he had 8 rings but he also never lost a championship He made a small fortune with Wendy’s and never had to work after the NBA

I was a die-hard Knicks fan in that era, but I loved watching the great Havlicek and the legendary Celtics play as well! That was some fantastical basketball all right!! __________ "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy."

You would be hard pressed to find another photo that displays as much basketball greatness from just 3 players as this one. Russell, West, & Havlicek...WOW!! Reading about the passing of "Hondo" Havlicek brought tears to my eyes. As a young boy watching the NBA he was one of my first professional sports heroes. Too bad today's professional sports heroes don't quite measure up to Hondo Havlicek.
